  1. Blast from the past.

that was the one that led me down this path. I almost bought one of the truck conversion years ago and talked myself out of it.
  2. Intermittent Noise During Slow Braking - anti-rattle clips?

could be as simple as some type of contamination on the pads. I have seen tire shine compounds do this. Try getting the brakes hot ( multiple hard braking) but not to fade point. All lot of times this will burn it off. If you drive gently all the time it will aggravate this issue. Semi...
  3. What was your favorite Jeep (other than the JT)?

Yup, I dig the old trucks. Had a 51 willys in high school. I am looking at buying one right now if we can come to terms
  4. What I wish my Gladiator had.

My wish list is pretty simple. Why not give the aux switches the ability to turn on/off when other functions are activated? Like high beams/ low beams (for fog or driving lights) This is available on dodge trucks so they are doing it already.
  5. Project retro phase two and three complete, she's coming together

The grill leaves a pretty good gap away from the air intake. The front bumper I will probably make up out of aluminum this winter...then polish the bejezus out of it
  6. Project retro phase two and three complete, she's coming together

after taking a week of vacation I got most of the major mods done. A little backstory. In 2012 Jeep had a concept vehicle called the J12 with the old 1960's grille. I saw this rig and decided then when Jeep made it I would have one. I was somewhat disappointed when they built the new gladiator...
  7. Project retro phase two and three complete, she's coming together

No offense taken. Actually the bumper was the one thing I looked a long time for and could not come up with anything I liked so the installed one is temporary until I can fab up something else. I looked for something thinner but I need the winch mount. Even considered chroming the damn thing...
  8. Project retro phase two and three complete, she's coming together

I will be doing the work myself. I have a good deal of experience with automotive painting. I will be removing the fenders and smoothing them up. I think taking them off for refinishing will be easier than masking them off on the vehicle.
  9. Project retro phase two and three complete, she's coming together

the wheels are heavy but the tires were too so I can't answer for sure. I am pretty sure the b/s is 5" and I have no rubbing issues with the 10.50 35 kendas anywhere. Mines a max tow. The tires have no/very little pokeage from the fenders Also check the depth of the factory lug nuts with the...
  10. Project retro phase two and three complete, she's coming together

same place has them in a little different style https://www.musclecarparts.cc/shop/item.aspx/1945-75-jeep-4-wheel-drive-tailgate-decal-or-paint-stencil/1347/ or you can find a Willys/kaiser restoration supply. I get a chance I will try to find where I got this particular one. May have been on EBAY.
  11. Project retro phase two and three complete, she's coming together

Purchased the tailgate logo online. reproduction for the J series. I had to separate the letters and realign for this application They even have different colors...
  12. Project retro phase two and three complete, she's coming together

used 1/4 stainless button head bolts to fill the holes. Wheels are Wheel Vintiques JW smoothies. They come powder coated black. Thanks for the compliments!
  13. Project retro phase two and three complete, she's coming together

Been working on the truck as time allows. Added a winch bumper painted to match and a 9500# winch Installed the Katzkin leather seats. Really wanted red and white but that was not going to work so I went with red and black with white stitching and a quilted center to give it a little retro...
  14. All things Katzkin

I did mine. Not bad, but William is right. Hog ring pliers (good ones) And you hands are gonna hurt. Lot of stretching and pulling. I thought the fronts were harder to do. Be careful taking them out. Unhook the battery (air bags). The drivers seat knob has an internal piece you have to pry out...
  15. So I guess the Gladiator isn't so expensive...Bollinger

they need to slap on some fake woodgrain and call it the family truckster
  16. Gas mileage

I average 18.2 on my daily drive back and forth. Max tow with 10.50x35 kendas. Winch bumper and bed covered, speedo corrected. About 7 miles of narrow blacktop, 8 miles on two lane and 10 miles of 4 lane. Elevation starts at 2500 ft and downhill to 950 then uphill all the way home. With the...
  17. Added a little (ok a bunch) of bass to base gladiator!

That looks nice! I may look into that, years ago I was into the car stereo competition (mid 80's when CD was just coming out). I designed built custom speaker boxes to fit. Had one setup that would do over 135db in a 250 watt class cleanly. Not too many high power speakers then. I used very...
  18. Driveshaft Carrier Bearing WTH?

Appears to just be paint flaking off. Was it flexible (rubbery) or stiff?
