MY mother-in-law frequently has to get in and out of the back seat. She is 80. I carry a plastic step for her to mostly get in the back seat area. It is not real stable and a pain to carry. Does anybody know of a flip down step I can install on our Rubicon? Something that can be easily pushed up...
You, like myself and several others are having similar problems. Check out the various posts on the subject. There is even a poll on the General Discussion page. For a real eye opener go over to the JL site and see 2 years of complaints on the same steering system. Good luck, and let us know...
Went to 37 right out of the dealer. Now running at 34. Major difference from the high pressure the factory had. It was damn scary. Now it is as described.
Description of the wandering. Massive dead spot in the middle of the steering when going straight. It pulls left and you correct then goes to far right then you correct. You make micro adjustments to get it going straight then it pulls and you start over. So you look like a drunk or distracted...
Not sure why it would be related to the gearing. But I have the Rubicon with AT tires and it wanders all over the road at highway speed. I'll be setting up a file with Jeep Cares before I go in for my first oil change and see what they can do about it. It really sucks.
It is a little soft sided. But for the cost and the purpose of getting the groceries home without chasing them all over the bed of the truck it worked fine.
All kinds of goodies over the last couple days:
Terraflex Falcon 2.2
Rugged Ridge door sill protector
Grab rail tray
Windshield sunshade
Trunk organizer for groceries in the bed
I have a related issue with the ESS. On start up in the morning the ESS light will come on as disabled. I can drive up the driveway, turn the truck off then back on and it is fine. And it is not every morning. Will be a nightmare for the dealer to duplicate. I'll have to wait until it gets worse...
Add me to the list. Love the truck, hate the steering. The wandering at highway speed is terrible. The steering wheel play is a contributor, but I believe the main culprit is the steering gear box. Could be poor design, flaw or programming or a combination of all three. It is NOT a Jeep thing...
Yesterday at lunch time She Who Must Be Obeyed called me in a panic. There was something wrong with the Jeep! She went on to explain that the speedometer was showing 15 to 20 higher than what she knew she was traveling.
She had accidently pushed the OK button and it was reading KPH in stead of...
The tire pressure when I picked it up was at 44 and it was dangerous to drive at highway speeds. The picture above is when we stopped at the first rest area to correct to 36. It was much better but there is this middle dead spot and weird wandering that occurs. I'm being very proactive on the...
I'm with you. When I do the stabilizer install tomorrow I will check the torque specs on as many front end components as possible then have the alignment checked in the next week or so. There is a massive long running thread over on the Wrangler forum dealing with the wandering problem. There is...
One week and a 1000 miles later and I definitely think we bought a winner. Here are my thoughts, but nothing new here. This is my 4th Jeep so I'm not a newbie to straight axel vehicles.
Bad, ok somewhat bad:
The ESS sometimes gets an error message out of the garage. I can restart and it is...
