Ran my JKU for 8 years with no hinge bolts. Did have a few nicks on the paint putting the doors back on. Ordered the Kentrol door alignment pins, which I'm planning on leaving on all the time. The bolts may not see the light of day again...

I've had that happen with my JK, in the end it was the connector just not as tight as it should be, so it was basically half working. I have also heard of it happening when a pin in the connector has gotten bent and not making the connections. Let us know how you make out.. Good luck.

Hitch steps are cheaper for the most part, but don't work for all people. With the tailgate down, I have never seen a hitch step that was useable. Unfortunately, some need the step to be accessible with the tailgate down. A nice feature, it also folds up and doesn't effect the departure angle...

Is the "device not supported" message on the UConnect head unit or the iPhone. If the message is on the iPhone, the majority of times it's a third party lightning cable to blame like other posters have said.

I installed mine this weekend as well.... My instructions called for a 13mm, 15mm, and 21mm sockets and that was exactly what I used. I have to agree with getting the torque wrench on the 15mm bolt with the j-clip, really impossible.
