  1. 🔥 Best OCD Mod Ever: Tailgate Keycap

That was my thought, too. I was worried that I might be introducing another problem, otherwise, I'd do the same modification.
  2. (Ram Dakota) midsize pickup truck to be built in Toledo in 2028!

I'm not sure why I struggle with brand loyalty. Although, I was never like that in my early days. When I was 14 years old, my first car was a used 1983 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme. Two years later, I had a used 1985 Monte Carlo SS. I had the Monte Carlo until it was stolen, then had a used...
  3. DPF code (engine light) at 55K

Most likely, the DPF is cracked internally and will need to be replaced. For some reason, a good number of DPFs have this issue and I'm not sure why. I think it's a manufacturing/production issue. You either get a good one or you don't.

  6. 3.0 Diesel 85K mile service - results & photos

I change the transmission fluid approximately every 50,000 miles. The first time (50,000 miles), I'll remove the factory pan and replace with the PPE pan. The next time (100,000 miles), I'll just pull the magnetic drain plug and fill. At 150,000 miles, I'll pull the plug, drop the pan, and...
  7. 3.0 Diesel 85K mile service - results & photos

I had a center hole drilled through a few transmission fill plugs. The hole is sized for the clear hose on the hand pump. This allows for easier pumping without needing to hold the hose end. I've got three vehicles that use the ZF transmission, so I've gotten pretty good with the process...
  8. 3.0 Diesel 85K mile service - results & photos

The only reason Stellantis moved away from the Gen 2 spec to the Gen 3 spec was due to deposits forming in the turbo. So, I would like to see pics of the inside of your turbo, please. ;) These are the pics that came off a test mule, and why Stellantis reversed course on the spec.
  9. 3.0 Diesel 85K mile service - results & photos

Amsoil and HPL are two of the best brands in the American auto industry, but neither are found in big box stores. While they do target mainstream customers, they also target niche markets (powersports, NASCAR, NASA, military, marine, agriculture, aerospace, etc.). In the beginning, the...
  10. 3.0 Diesel 85K mile service - results & photos

Just for the record, a buddy of mine turned 586,000 miles on his 2015 Ram EcoDiesel a few days ago. He sent me this picture the day before he turned 586,000 miles. He's run Amsoil Max Duty since the truck was new.
  11. 3.0 Diesel 85K mile service - results & photos

The Max Duty is a good oil, I just don't know if it's better than Amsoil AFL for the Gen 3. We know that the Amsoil AFL outperforms Amsoil FS on the Gen 3 EcoDiesel plus the AFL is a lower SAPS oil. We've seen dozens of UOA results and AFL has the lowest wear metals and holds viscosity better...
  12. Gladiator as a purpose built work truck

That's how Steve with Timber Grove Enterprises LLC got started. He had an oil company in Alaska reach out asking if he could build a custom air suspension for the Ram 1500. The oil company used the 1/2 ton because it was light enough to drive over ice, but the truck needed extra support to...
  13. Gladiator as a purpose built work truck

That's a good question. I know that Ford would ship the Ranger without a bed. The dealership had a hard time selling it without a bed, so they had one put on.
  14. Gladiator as a purpose built work truck

The XJ and WJ are timeless in many ways. It would be neat if Jeep brought back a modern version of the XJ.
  15. Gladiator as a purpose built work truck

The Gladiator really is the perfect midsize work truck. Alright, maybe "perfect" is exaggerating, but in my opinion, the Gladiator met and exceeded my expectations, especially being a first-generation truck. Before the Gladiator, I was using a Jeep Cherokee XJ as my midsize work truck...
  16. Two Gladiators Destroyed in Moab Flash Flooding

We commonly see this playout with the Rio Grande. I was born and raised in Kansas. I didn't know what an arroyo was until I moved to New Mexico. An arroyo is typically a dry creek bed, but they can turn into rivers under a heavy monsoon or rapid snow melt. People who've experienced this...
  17. Two Gladiators Destroyed in Moab Flash Flooding

Geological and meteorological speaking, water accumulation can happen quickly here in the Southwest. Just last month, we had a 37-year-old lady in her vehicle swept away in flood waters. It took something like 7 days to find her body. When I was in college, several of my friends and I went...
  18. Lets talk Coolant for the Ecodiesel

The Zerex Yellow is an OAT coolant. You can mix it with the Mopar coolant with no problems.
  19. Gladiator as a purpose built work truck

I love that Kestrel work truck!
  20. (Ram Dakota) midsize pickup truck to be built in Toledo in 2028!
