That's very true, however, there are still millions of truck owners who require a full-sized truck.
It may not make financial sense, but a lot of people do it. My father-n-law, for example, uses his HD truck maybe 4 - 6 times per year to haul cattle or farm equipment. The same goes for a...
As a Mopar fanboy, I won't push through my own biasness to purchase a Ford, but I agree that the Maverick would be suitable for commutes. The Maverick is also appealing because buyers can get up to 4,000 lbs of towing and a useable 4.5' (33.3 cubic feet) bed.
Personally, I would most likely...
I can't remember if it was Mopar Insiders or TFL, but one mentioned that their Stellantis source hinted that Jeep would most likely be the one to release a subcompact pickup. Of course, the word 'pickup' should be used lightly when talking about subcompact trucks. By definition, the PT Cruiser...
In a perfect world, most of us would want to own one of each. Having to choose between the two is a tough proposition. The Ram 1500 will always beat out the Gladiator if towing demands call for it.
I sometimes think consumers blur the lines between a wide range of trucks (compact trucks...
Agreed. TFL asked their Stellantis contact, and that person said it's not coming to North America, at least not anytime soon.
Yeah, Ram is missing the gap that would compete with the Maverick.
Ford Maverick - No Answer
Ford Ranger - 2028 Ram Dakota
Ford F150 - Ram 1500
Ford F250 - Ram 2500...
The Maverick filled the gap, which is why some were hoping that Ram would have brought the Rampage to North America. It's been rumored that Jeep might bring a subcompact truck to North Amerca to compete with the Maverick and Santa Cruz.
I get that, but when news broke a few months ago, they specifically said the Dakota would share a body-on-frame with the next Gen Gladiator, which is one reason why Stellantis decided to move the Dakota from the Belvedere plant (Illinois) to the Toledo Assembly plant (Ohio). Stellantis sources...
I thought Antonio Filosa said it would share the same body-on-frame as the Gladiator with adaptations. I believe TFL received the same information from their Stellantis insider. They said the Gladiator will remain a SFA while the Dakota will have an IFS. I remember Filosa saying that it would...
It's been confirmed that the Dakota will share a platform with the Gladiator. There will be some adaptations, but both will be built in the same Toledo Assembly plant in Ohio.
As mentioned earlier in this thread, Jeep will continue building/selling the Gladiator into the next generation and Ram will release a midsize truck to compete with the Canyon, Colorado, Ranger, and Tacoma.
Neither one of them need to make a lot of sales to be profitable. The Gladiator shares...
Ford was smart to offer a lot of different trim levels at various degrees of affordability. The Maverick simply offers consumers a lot more flexibility for a competitive price. I would rather have a small pickup than a small SUV/Crossover.
XL - Starting at $26,995 MSRP
XLT - Starting...
I would guess the overall percentage of fleets would be small. The Maverick is probably a popular vehicle for small business owners, though.
I met a guy over the summer who owned a Maverick. He absolutely loved it. He used it to commute to work and tow a motorcycle trailer on the weekends...
The Gladiator makes sense for those who want Jeep styling and the capability to do Jeep-like things.
The Dakota makes sense for those who want more of a traditional style of truck with similar creature comforts as the Canyon, Colorado, Ranger, and Tacoma.
It will be at least 2029 before...
Yes, and check out those sales numbers. They will hit record sales again in 2025!
2021 - 13,258
2022 - 74,370
2023 - 94,058
2024 - 131,142
2025 - 120,904 as of the end of Q3
Yes, it would. Ram has been the leader when it comes to luxury interior. I would be surprised if they didn't give the Dakota the same treatment.
At one point, the Ford Maverick outsold ever Jeep model including the Wrangler. So yes, there's a huge market for affordable midsize and compact...
Testing and charging separately would be recommended if one battery were suspect for being weak or failure prone. However, if both batteries are in good working order, then you don't need to charge separately.
We drive our Jeep typically no more than once per month, so it can sit for weeks at...
I'm super excited about the Dakota. It will be better equipped to compete with the Ranger and Canyon/Colorado. The Gladiator is a niche midsize truck. Even though I absolutely love the Gladiator as a utilitarian truck, I would also like to have a luxury midsize truck.
