Yeah, these are sort of my thoughts as well. Keep the Gladiator's focus on the things that made it a "Jeep truck" to begin with.....it's ok to be different. This gives the folks at Stellantis a completely new outlet to pour all the boring stuff (that actually sells) into, lmao.
The Gladiator makes sense for those who want Jeep styling and the capability to do Jeep-like things.

The Dakota makes sense for those who want more of a traditional style of truck with similar creature comforts as the Canyon, Colorado, Ranger, and Tacoma.

It will be at least 2029 before I'm in the market for another midsize vehicle, but the Dakota will be on the list of possibilities.

Yes, and check out those sales numbers. They will hit record sales again in 2025!

2021 - 13,258
2022 - 74,370
2023 - 94,058
2024 - 131,142
2025 - 120,904 as of the end of Q3
Wonder what those numbers are if fleet sales are stripped away. It has become the number one auto parts store runner and utility company survey vehicles from what I see.

I would guess the overall percentage of fleets would be small. The Maverick is probably a popular vehicle for small business owners, though.

I met a guy over the summer who owned a Maverick. He absolutely loved it. He used it to commute to work and tow a motorcycle trailer on the weekends.

I've browsed the Maverick forum a few different times just to get a feel of how owners are using their trucks. I was impressed with how much owners used it as a truck. Owners love the fuel economy, towing ability, and overall drivability. The Maverick is taking sales away from small SUV models.

The old RWD single cab Ranger was the Parts Store delivery truck of choice so this tracks.

Yep, likely a large part of which is why FoMoCo is dropping the Escape after this coming year. Makes sense too since there’s zilch that’s special about it against the Bronco Sport and the Mav is selling so well.

Ford was smart to offer a lot of different trim levels at various degrees of affordability. The Maverick simply offers consumers a lot more flexibility for a competitive price. I would rather have a small pickup than a small SUV/Crossover.

XL - Starting at $26,995 MSRP
XLT - Starting at $29,495 MSRP
Lobo - Starting at $35,255 MSRP
Lariat - Starting at $37,290 MSRP
Tremor - Starting at $40,350 MSRP

It would be neat if Ram, Dodge, Chrysler, or Jeep would follow suit, but I don't think they will.
