I have a 2020 Jeep Gladiator. I learned when I bought my bed cover that there were slight differences between the 1st gen (prior to March 2020), and 2nd gen (after March 2020). This had to do with the type of rivnut installed in the backet behind the passenger compartment, at the "front" of the...
I had my hybrid bike on my older Thule bike rack (It's about 13-14 years old now) attached to trailer hitch. It survived the 30mph straight line/60mph+ gusts this past weekend while driving I-80 from MO to OR.
Hello all;
I went into my local Jeep dealer before my trip. I was intent on getting the Mopar hard tri-fold bed cover. The parts guy said not to get it. The owner had one on his Gladiator, and the snaps broke and it wasn't well built. He said to go with the soft version instead. He gave it to me...
Well, so far I'm on the fence with this product, and it's replacement process. A LOT of hoop jumping and "iffy" talk. Currently, Safelite Solutions (whom is the sub for Safeguard, the warranty provider for the Crystal Fusion product) has been ok. They called me, and we just scheduled an appt at...
Follow-up to the Crystal Fusion. I got a call, and scheduling replacement. You have to reapply the Crystal Fusion within 3 days of new windshield to maintain warranty. I said, well, I'm not anywhere near my home dealer. They said, no problem. Call the 800 number to find a dealer near you (local...
I bought 2 pair of chains from Amazon, and had plenty of food/water in case of bad issues. I made sure once in the mountain areas to top off at 1/2 tank. Funny thing was, I topped off in Winemucca, NV. I drove US 95 to Hwy 140. At Denio Junction, NV, there is a tiny little blip of a gas station...
Wow, I never thought of that...I'll give it a shot. Those black plastic bags were just window covering only. I still have some points left to get a hotel or two ;)
See, that's just it...it's NOT a full-sized truck. But I can tell a huge difference between the non-repair and after the repair with the tech bulletin issue. Just FYI
The harness goes on the dog. There is a ring on the back. The doggy seatbelt attached to this ring, and clips into one of the seat belt receivers in the seat. I can take a pic later if needed.
I'd thought I'd give an update on the trip! We left Thursday after work, around 3pm Central time. I-70 WB to KC. I-29 NB to Nebraska City, NE. As we were turning NB out of KC, my phone beeped, and I got a weather msg on my console: Blizzard Warning. WHAT???? Well, seems the weather had changed...
Feedback for the trip: We left Thursday evening. He seemed to be ok with the hammock. Friday, more of the same. But then, Saturday, he figured out how to get under/around the hammock, and ended up sleeping on the hump area and my sleeping bag on the floor. When he did this, he almost hung...
Just a quick follow-up: I just drove from MO to OR over MLK weekend. Besides the 30mph+ headwind I fought on Friday...the car drove great after this fix. No issues.
Owned my JT for 2 months. I took an epic road trip up to Oregon from Missouri this past week; I need to update that thread separately. However....
Somewhere between no-where Nebraska, and Rawlins, WY on I-80, I heard a "tink". I wasn't following a truck...there was a car in the next lane over...
Interesting on the Tech Bulletin: I was having the lane sway as I mentioned. I made an appointment at my local Jeep dealer (All-Star Jeep/Chrysler/Dodge) in Bridgeton, MO. I made sure to note the TB.
They diagnosed the problem, and did indeed confirm that I had the issue. They had to special...
Thanks all for the further advice! Based on input, here's my plan:
1. Back seat air mattress bought. Will sleep in sleeping bag.
2. Spare comforter for pooch
3. No heater. If it gets cold enough, I'll start car.
4. I only have 2.8k on these tires. Not enough$$ in the budget for snow tires.
5. I...
Yes...I'm taking 80 to Winnemeca, NV? Then up to US 95, and then over to hwy 410 towards Crater Lake/Klamath Falls.
Anyone have suggestions for decent tire cables/chains? Also, any ideas about covers for the windows for privacy?
I got the bed installed; took Roscoe for a ride in it, along with his new harness and the shock seat belt for him. I think it will work great! Now...about the heat inside at night when we are stopped...
I'm guessing if I can't find a decent alternative, I'll run the vehicle all night.
Also...
Great tips! Here is what I was thinking:
1. I'm not going to tent camp. I'll sleep in the ride a day or two...maybe splurge for a hotel to shower..
2. Speaking of showers, if I fill up with gas at a truck stop, can I use their showers?
3. I'm probably getting a hammock for my pooch, like this...
I have seen a lot of responses on this thread. I have follow-up questions. I'm taking a 3.5 day road trip up to OR (and coming back a month later). I like the hammock option, especially this one I've seen you guys mention...
