You don't want it fully locked - I never locked my soft top jeeps. It's WAY better to have someone unzip a window or similar than cut your top to get in. Unfortunately, you'd still get your top cut as not many people know you can just unzip the windows, so I would just leave it unlocked...
Could be, or somebody cut them off merging, who knows? People are assuming overloaded or no brakes, but I don't see any vehicle damage and it's not overturned, so they may have avoided a big one.
Yeah, that's what the Dana 44s get you. I'd bet that we'll get a max tow on the overland eventually, or at some point they may just put the d44s on all of them. If you don't want high payload and towing, why get the gladiator over a JL?
By the time you add that stuff to the sport, it'll cost you that much if you have them installed and you'll have eaten into the extra payload and towing of the sport s. Plus, it won't be under warranty.
You can very easily get close if you put the camping equipment in the trailer - putting the 150lbs of equipment in the trailer, properly distributed, only adds 15lbs to the tongue weight. So you're at 5980lbs trailer with the whole 550lbs family. If you have smaller kids (like I do), then...
Where are you guys getting these numbers from? The advertised rubi payload is 1160, and my almost fully loaded rubi door sticker says 1148. With max trailer capacity of 7000lbs and 10% tongue weight, that still leaves 450lbs for passengers.
I like them too, one of the reasons I didn't end up ordering an LE. I had a JLUR prior and loved the red accents, so wanted the same on the Gladiator. I also don't like the all black wheels, so the only 2 things that you could only get on the LE (well, besides the badge) I didn't like.
Max tow with auto trans is 1530 payload and Rubi with the same is 1160 (I looked them both up). With Manual trans they're 1600 and 1200 respectively (but towing is drastically reduced). Not sure where you're getting 1000 for the Rubi, maybe without the tow package?
(1535-1160)/1160=32%
Not sure where you're getting 60% from, but the sport s is definitely a sweet deal.
Yeah, I got a low option rubi. No trail cam, no body colored hard top and no tonneau cover.
I still can't believe people are complaining about the brake controller. They're are literally hundreds of aftermarket controllers that will work and it's pre wired for it. Jeep even makes one that plugs right in.
You can't tow without a hitch and ball at all, it's more important than a brake...
Get the Gator, the LE basically gives a leather dash and a badge, the rest can all be ordered on a Rubi. I had a slot for the LE but given the extra money (less discount on an LE) and having to wait for essentially a leather dash I don't care about, it wasn't worth it. I almost waited for Gobi...
The same drivetrain is in the GC and half ton ram and is rated to tow between 6500 and 8000lbs, so not sure why you think it's all of a sudden going to be a problem in the Gladiator. I'm not aware of anyone having major issues with the ram tradesman, which is a work truck standard with the...

Here's my experience with the Gladiator, but essentially it's the same as with the JLUR. 55mph heading into a headwind up the mountain in 5th, otherwise it maintained the speed...
