This is what I want to know. I'm currently holding off on ordering until the safety package is optional.

Are they still forcing these options? They could have forced basically any other $800-1000 option, and I would just suck it up. I'm ready to order, but I really don't want the safety package.

If I were in your boat, I would start adjusting the steering box. You are kind of in a "nothing-to-lose" situation if your steering is still that bad. Is the JL box the same as the JT? I think quadratec sells JL boxes.
