Years ago I traded in a truck in Texas. I was the 2nd owner of the truck. It popped up in Illinois, as a Texas one owner truck. š
I still miss that truck, I should have kept it. Oh well, live and learn.
The 318 was a tough motor from everything Iāve heard and researched. There are a lot better options now for lighter more powerful V8ās. The guys saying horsepower in the upper 100ās are wrong. The spec for the 318 main engines per Dodge was:
230 hp and 340 lb-ft
260 hp and 345 lb-ft
There were...
Talking old engines. I have known numerous people over the years with the 318. Everyone I met that had one loved it. From all Iāve gathered it was a tough, tough workhorse of an engine.
š I bought the right vehicle. I just have some upgrades to make. Donāt we all? Thatās one of the reasons we buy Jeepsā¦to make it our own. GM has their problems too, unfortunately. Look at the recent 6.2 issues. You take it easy my friend.

My friend has a 2025 Chevy 2500 with the 6.6 Gas. He loves it! I rode in it . It had plenty of power and was extremely smooth. There is a company out there that uses the 6.6 in conversions. I have read and heard bad things about said company. Too bad, because I love GM engines. I canāt find any...
Yes sir, you are correct! I LOVE my Mojaveā¦just wish it had more power. I did want the diesel, but as you said not an option for the Mojave. I do plan on doing a V8 swap. I really want to put a GM V8 in it, but it doesnāt seem like the best option. I imagine I will go with a mopar 6.4 in it. I...
Why? Because I want more horsepower and torque. I like the way a V8 sounds, it sounds like freedom. I donāt like the way the V6 sounds. I donāt like how gutless the V6 is. Even if you add a supercharger, or turbo, it still doesnāt have the torque of a V8. Those are just a few reasons of why.
Iām...
I want a V8 Gladiator. Do I need it, nope. Would it be even more fun to drive, yep. Iām not really that worried about the gas mileage. If I was I wouldnāt have 37ās on my Gladiator being turned by anemic V6. No one would if they were worried about efficiency and fuel mileage.
I will say thisā¦I...
The only way Iāve found that theyāll look up and get the footage is for the police. Then getting the police to do anything about your problem is a whole other adventure in itself.
My son-in-law had a truck stolen at Wally World. They gave the footage to the policeā¦they knew who stole the truck...
No doubt on someone being able to get it. I was just saying add the lock for an additional deterrent. You did call it a temporary tire mount. š Itās sad that we live in a time when you have to do things to keep people from stealing your stuff. It wasnāt that long ago when a spare tire could lay...
Excellent idea!
My humble opinion, I would change the lock lugnut out for a normal nut. Drill through the carriage bolt at the end and insert a keyed lock to keep the nut from being unscrewed. Not perfect, just makes it a little harder to help keep the honest people being honest. š
Are you happy with your decision, and like the new Gladiator, or are you regretting getting rid of your old Gladiator?
I hope youāre happy with the new one. There is nothing worse than paying for something that youāre not happy with and having regrets.
