Don't think this is a new trend...
I went to the Jeep dealer in 1994 to buy a Wrangler (I was 24 and fresh out of the Navy) and just couldn't afford it. If my memory serves me correctly it was north of $20k for the Renegade 4.0 model I wanted.
Ended up buying a Nissan 4x4 king cab pick-up...
It's "required" because of the amount of droop in the MC springs.. If you use the Gladiator off-road You can get by without it for a while but eventually the Rzeppa boot will tear.

Don't get caught up in the fancy/expensive shock game. The Rocksport is more than adequate when paired with the MC springs.

I got a XTR1 and a Supertop second hand. With the Rack installed on the truck there isn't enough room between the rack uprights to install the front/rear rails into the Supertop side rails.
Is there a different set or XTR1 bed mounts that...
The "outsiders" are often retailers or installers of certain brands or don't offer a particular service and not exactly honest either.
You defiantly need to read between the lines from all sources.
An independent oil analysis test I saw a few years back on a Vette forum rated the Pennzoil ultra platinum the highest of all non race only oils. YMMV
It's the only thing I've used in the 6 Jeeps I've owned/own (none were diesel)
