Trust me, I get it. The initial problem happened when the truck was cold, and the new situation happened when the truck was cold, as well. That's why I'm going with the original issue first (coolant temp sensor) since it's just a $30 part and a half hour of my time. @ShadowsPapa presented...
I have/had the Bestop tonneau. It's actually for sale since I got a topper. Takes 5 mins to remove- I had to remove it when I got the topper installed. Too bad you're in NC, otherwise I'd cut you a sweet deal.
It's not the ESS that I'm super concerned with. ESS is working again, but I got an error for adaptive cruise control when I started it up today. Sorry, forgot to mention that. So, overall, it has gone from normal temp ->"boiling" on gauge->zero temp on gauge->no ESS->CEL->"boiling" on gauge...
Truck has sat for the last 2 days. I just started it up, CEL is on, temp gauge is now working..... Gonna try to get a coolant temp sensor from the local dealer tomorrow (if they have it) but now I'm wondering about electrical gremlins since it's working again.... or back to potential battery...

Truck capabilities- JTR, obviously
Riding comfort- Bronco
On road suspension/handling/steering- Bronco
Off...
Anyone hear about this? Better yet, was anyone there?

Do you have yours connected to the the USB ports below the radio, or in the console? I know I've had performance issues with the console port in the past, so I wonder if this would work there.
I'm on the same page with you, being that I don't like the look of stock Jeeps. Especially the stock wheel/tire/suspension Jeeps that look like someone's Amazon cart full of stick on accessories and LED lights, threw up on it. That "skipped leg day" look drives me nuts on any 4wd vehicle, and...
