The owners manual says a Sport S with tow package (not max tow) is 6,000 lbs. You can look at your specific Jeep on their website and it shows its towing capacity. Mine is over 6,400 lbs and it's a Sport S with regular towing package. More than plenty of towing for my needs, and it's funny...
I can understand why it would be sickening to expect the higher capacity and get something less. I would definitely see what the dealer can do to help. You never know 'till you ask.
That said, it sounds like you're pretty close to your capacity. That capacity should take into account driving...
In reverse order:
2020 Gladiator Sport S, Gator(current)
1997 Grand Cherokee, Chargold
1990 Cherokee Limited, Navy
1978 Wagoneer, Red (my favorite one up until now - got me through my last two years of college in snowy Boone NC. That thing was a beast)
1974 Wagoneer, Black
Before those, I...
I got the same rubber mat and it’s perfect for me. I don’t carry concrete blocks and gravel. I carry stuff for travel and fishing trips, drums and music gear, and other stuff of life. I’ve never been one to pack lightly, and I don’t have to worry about it with the JT. I like the painted...
I got a window chip from a rock at less than 300 miles. It’s on the very edge of the driver side of the windshield so it’s not visible from the driver seat, and insurance paid for the repair so it’s okay. It was a bummer though when it happened. The exact same thing happened when my wife...
Fishing and sun at Fort Fisher, Kure Beach NC. Awesome day. We were all the way out to dune marker 21 which is a pretty good bit of soft sand driving down the beach. My wife drove the JT back from our beach spot, and I think she’s got the Jeep fever now. She was a wild woman driving on the...
Me too, with my Gator. Last week I ran into the salesman I dealt with, who happens to be an old family friend, and he told me he could sell my Gator to at least two people today if he thought I would let it go. I didn't take the bait. I'm keeping it.
I've experienced very friendly Jeep people from the NC mountains all the way to the NC coast. The vast majority will wave back if they see me, and about a quarter to a third will wave first. I don't notice any gender difference. I'm talking about traditional front Jeeps like ours, but not the...
This seems to be one of those things some people are okay with, but other people loathe. My wife's BMW does it so I already understood the concept. My son says he can't stand it turning off at stops, but it didn't take me long to get used to it. It never was annoying to me so I've never even...
I may eventually want something like that for my JT - not now, but at some point. It'll be interesting to see what the different companies come up with over the next year or so. I think that one pictured looks pretty good with the black hard top.
I recently saw what looked like a fiberglass...
Wow, interesting thread. After seeing what you guys are posting, I checked the Mopar web site numbers for my Sport S w/towing. My owners manual says 6,000 lbs, but Mopar site says:
Transmission Summary
8-Speed Automatic 850RE Transmission
Max Payload
1185 lb (537.59 kg)
Max Towing
6485 lb...
Interesting. I was fine with the idea of a smaller screen with fewer features, but the 7" was what was in the truck I bought off the lot so I took it. I'm glad I did. It's great for running WAZE from my iPhone directly on the Uconnect screen, while my phone shows my streaming Pandora screen...
I installed these myself in just over an hour, and I'm not exactly great at assembling things. They were cheap as dirt from Amazon so I wasn't sure what to expect, but I'm pretty dang satisfied.
