After break-in: I got used to the clutch now, very rarely stall. This clutch is easy on the leg. I always start off in 1st, but that seems not common here. Maybe I have taller gears? Anyway, no regrets.
That was the day we finally had to take the keys away from dad.
I was almost impressed with his save from the sideways slide, going up over the hill like that...then things got ugly.
I once bought a brand spanking new GTI, had it for two years -- and only found out when I traded it in that a fender had been replaced. Difficult conversation with the wife: "Is there something you're not telling me?". Everyone agreed the bodywork was perfect, but I still took a hit on resale value.
It's those damned ducks. They're watching me all the time. Those beady little duck eyes, clicking, clicking, clicking. Reporting to their duck overlords. I tried putting foil over the windows but I couldn't see and rear ended a Subaru. Those ducks told on me.
Seriously, though, that old SV...
Sounds like it got damaged during assembly, or they just left something out (like ground straps!). It's probably something stupid. Problem for dealer techs is they generally don't get a lot of coverage to diagnose the problem. No work order and they're just donating their time.
I used to hear that exact sound in a truck, but it couldn't be the same thing. In my case I had an F100 with a transplanted Windsor. The engine mounts were some half-arse kit and kept breaking, sending the engine lurching at an angle and the fan hitting the radiator. I replaced those damned...
Well, at least I know I won't have issues with power window switches (crank) or automatic transmission SNAFUs (manual). The valve noise is a bit more ominous...
" On a related note, I was once ducked by a compass. It felt dirty."
That's almost depressing. It's like some salesman closed the deal for that Compass with BS about ducking and waving. I'd feel really bad for that Compass owner. I say that as someone who owned and loved a Compass. It was a...
Jeeps look better when you leave them outside. I've got a neighbor with an old Wrangler: dents, dings, faded everything. The only paint on it that sort of looks like the original color is where there were once stickers, which have long since peeled off. It's about the coolest vehicle in the...
" Maybe I should ask if it helps to have a deterrent?"
That's where a visible thing like the steering lock comes in. It adds a slight PIA factor to the thief's calculus. Most car thieves these days are like young people in general: they want to do everything with an electronic device. No tools...
Keep in mind if she has a Sport at standard ride height she's less in need of wide axles than you monster truck drivers. Just keep an eye on the temp gauge and take it easy.
You'll be fine towing a single horse and trailer in emergencies. Just be careful. If it was one of those unibody "trucks" with similar rating, I'd say no go.
The only security I have is the six speed, which most of the younger set view as an exotic and primitive thing from a bygone era. And I...
" Assist and SOS buttons"
I don't seem to have these, thankfully
" But after I unplugged the dealer’s GPS device..."
Why would the dealer put that on your jeep?
When I lived in California you paid a % of what the vehicle was "worth" each year with reg. renewal. I just bought cheap vehicles. Now back in NY the reg fees seem dainty and quaint. In both states you paid sales tax -- one time -- when you bought the vehicle. However, in NY you get some credit...
I got the nerf bars because I had them on the Ranger and my dog needs the little rubber steps. I wouldn't want them around anything solid like a boulder since they bolt into the sheet metal. They are great for parking near other vehicles and protecting against swinging doors and errant shopping...
