Evidently they can't change just the seal.
ETA: After looking at pics and a diagram I get it. The seal is on the axle between the hub and bearing with a pressed on retainer holding it all together. Not like the old days when the seal was pressed into the housing and the axle was just slid...
Waiting for an axle.
I made an appointment and took it in last Thursday morning. Took them all day to confirm it was leaking and tell me they had to order an axle to fix it. Back ordered of course.
They released the truck so at least I can drive it.
I'm very satisfied with my Max Tow also. About the most I will ever tow with it is my travel trailer, just under 3,000 pounds.
Yesterday I bolted on these Rubicon take-off wheels & tires temporarily. I noticed virtually no difference in how it drive and gas mileage seemed minimally effected...
Well, crawled under my JT a while ago to look at spring part numbers and discovered my right rear axle seal is leaking. Less than 1K miles on the truck. Guess I'll be calling the dealer tomorrow.
Any modifications or a lift? Stock wheels/tires? Sounds to me like a bad or unbalanced tire.
To answer your other question I have not noticed any whine when turning my steering wheel. Is your fluid level good?
Unless you actually plan on rock crawling I would suggest running boards. They will protect the sides of your Jeep and keep your hinges from getting blasted. And as a side benefit shorter folks actually find them useful to enter and exit.
Evidently getting to be a problem everywhere. And for your reading pleasure.

I really haven't noticed any difference from the JT to when I owned a JKU or JLU.
But then from the front they all look the same and most would not know you're in a JT until they drive by.
The options with a Max Tow package have just as much impact as those on a Rubicon or Mojave and I believe are important for planning future modifications.
For instance, when I mentioned in an earlier thread my desire to install a Rubicon suspension I learned that the Max Tow has unique rear...
I'll be going the Unistrut route after I get the spray-in liner done. I found a place online that sells the solid P1000 strut cut to size. With the solid strut you can drill your mounting holes where they need to be. With some black wrinkle spray paint they should look great. With the nut...
A Tereflex 1.5" leveling kit and a DayStar .75" kit is in the mail. Now just waiting on a local Rubicon owner to finish lifting his Rubicon so I can get the take-off wheels/tires and suspension.
Almost forgot. I also have the Mopar Lift Kit LCAs coming from Rock Auto.
Kinda similar to what I posted on the Ranger Forum recently when I told them I got rid of my 6 month old Ford Ranger XLT SX4 for a Gladiator. The Ranger was a sweet truck but it wasn't a Jeep.
Good luck, enjoy your next vehicle.
I had a JLU Sport and now own a JT Sport Max Tow. Short answer, no, I never regretted not getting a higher end model.
Only options my JLU had was a hard top and rubber floor mats. I later added a radio with Sirius XM.
My JT is a little better equipped. It has a hard top, Aux switches...
When I had my 08 JKU I changed the diff fluids at about 25k with Amsoil Severe Gear. 75w-90 in front and 75w-140 in the back. It had a LSD but I did not use friction modifier. It was still going strong at over 100k when I sold it. Even a 5.3L LS conversion didn't kill it.
My 19 JLU got the...
