  1. Alu-Cab Contour Canopy Roll Call - not Camper

The cap is a little more square than the factory hardtop, and has rails on the outer edge, so it ends up sitting about 2.5" at the edges and about even in the center. Here's some pictures to demonstrate what I'm trying to say.

  3. Diesel cooling options and ideas

A lower temperature thermostat does nothing to address inadequate cooling capacity. The only way it helps is by starting at a lower temperature IF the conditions would not cause the engine to be operating above the thermostat opening temp anyway. In this case, it might buy you a little extra...
  4. Towing TJ 600 miles

Bradford street maintains a 41% grade for 30 feet. Most of it is 26% grade, and there's a monumental difference between maintaining a 20-some-percent grade for a few blocks and for ~15 miles. The OP's estimate of 15 miles at 23% grade would be the toughest towing road in the world -- that...
  5. These LED headlights are AWESOME! - Diode Dynamics Elite Max LED headlights.

Unfortunately, I have not been impressed with the build quality / QC of the DD Elite Max headlights, nor their RMA process. I ordered a set in March, and one of the lights was pointing at the moon from the factory and could not be adjusted even remotely closely to the correct angle -- I'm...
  6. Soft brake pedal on my Gladiator Rubicon

Just to add my experiences to this thread, as I found this thread when trying to look for advice on working through similar issues posted here, and also this thread has some conflicting information/experiences from other owners that were probably provided with bad service/information by dealers...
  7. Which Floor Jacks and Jack Stands do you recommend/NOT recommend

I got a all-steel Arcan 3.5 Ton low-profile jack from Costco something like 10-15 years ago that has served me well. I needed low profile because I tend to keep at least one vehicle in the garage that's too low for standard floor jacks. After buying the jeep, I bought an extension pad from 911...
  8. SCOUT Pickup & SUV reveal coming Oct. 24, 2024

I hadn't heard of a new Scout, and obviously it's been a minute since International Harvester was making non-commercial vehicles, so I needed to refresh myself with whatever is going on with that company/brand. Here's the wikipedia: Scout Motors Inc. is an American automotive company. It is...
  9. Alu-Cab Contour Canopy Roll Call - not Camper

You may want to try re-reading this. There is no conflicting information. The first section states the max load, and the second section explains what it means and provides examples of how much things may end up weighing.
  10. Instant MPG disappeared from Fuel Economy screen on instrument cluster display.

Yeah, I noticed a recurring code using an OBDLink MX and the Torque app for Android that didn't appear when using the Tazer engine codes function. My guess is that the Tazer will only list true CEL events, but I haven't gone through their documentation to be sure on that.
  11. Instant MPG disappeared from Fuel Economy screen on instrument cluster display.

You can very well have codes that haven't tripped a CEL -- you'd be surprised what you find with a scan tool.
  12. Instant MPG disappeared from Fuel Economy screen on instrument cluster display.

I'm pretty sure this gauge disappears anytime your vehicle has a Check Engine Light and/or a code. I had a faulty aftermarket air intake that kept popping CELs and the instantaneous fuel economy reading would go away both anytime the CEL was illuminated OR when there was a 'suppressed code' -...
  13. How long did your windshield last before cracking?

My OEM windshield (standard) lasted to about 800 miles on the odometer and 3 weeks from new. The guy that did the replacement said it looked like that was the second windshield - must have been damaged in shipping to the dealer or something like that. I got an off-brand replacement, which now...
  14. Fill Neck Mod

Just to add my 2 cents here - I tried the channel lock method first, made very little headway, and boogered up the rim of the nozzle a bit before giving up. I then tried the wire stripper method, which worked beautifully because you can get leverage with the stripper tool against the tabs that...
  15. LOUDEST AIR INTAKE FOR 3L DIESEL?

Well I have experience with three intakes - stock, K&N, and aFe. The K&N is the loudest of the three, by far. Way too loud, in my opinion. Materials quality of the K&N are significantly lower.
  16. SHW Offroad Seat Delete, an Honest Review

I think that the drawers provide a lot of utility; I wouldn't want to give them up. As a benefit I can store 'hidden' items under the drawer where they're still secure even with the non-lockable top hatches ;) -Mark Great stuff and these are clever solutions to make the rest of this setup...
  17. SHW Offroad Seat Delete, an Honest Review

I have this also, but never figured out how to make the provided brackets work for bolting the system down. Would you mind taking a picture of your solution please? Nice review and I share your thoughts on the pros and cons of this system. I weighed the entire system as installed at it came...
  18. Alu-Cab Contour Canopy Roll Call - not Camper

After about a month a fussing with the non-cooperative locks, the tiniest little spritz I could manage of this stuff into each lock using the straw, and then working in with the key a few times has made my locks buttery smooth and easy to operate, and I don't think any reapplication will be...
  19. Clayton Springs On Bricks/Cobblestones

Huh? 'stiffness' is a result of spring rate, shock valving, and vehicle weight - it's absolutely quantifiable. Now, somebody's differing *perception* of what a firm or soft ride is, or a person's lack of understanding of what's going on under their tush, or their lack of appropriate vocabulary...
