Just drive it, trade it in or sell it before the 60k warranty ends or get an extended warranty. Drive it, and drive it hard since these engine were made to operate in the mid to high rpm ranges. Most likely the noise will get worse if there is an issue with the engine within the warranty period...
Kind of??? You dont need a new wire harness, just solder and heat shrink your wires. Of course you could purchase a new wire harness but i doubt itll be cheap.
So this is gettin interesting, I've noticed a pop or puff noise if I just tap the gas pedal once while I'm in neutral. I'm starting to think this is a backfire in the intake? Which means I'm running lean? Which could also cause detonation? But it runs fine if I dont initially tap on the gas...
I was wondering if that noise is normal? When I quickly just tap the gas pedal and let it go, it makes a Puff sound and then revs. This happens in neutral, manual transmission. I'm thinking it could be a vacuum leak but wouldnt that set off a CEL?
Drive a YJ and see if you still want to complain ?
First vehicle i purchased at 19 and drove it from the dealer in PA directly to Boston. Needless to say i was shocked when i drove the gladiator because i havent drove another jeep since. Def no complaints here.
What does rev match have to do with wide open throttle? Im not trying to go 90 everytime on the highway, i just never noticed how weak it was near the top speed.
Also, since driving the jeep in the higher rev ranges now, I feel like I'm driving a go cart. Maybe its because im getting desensitized to the torque in the med rev ranges but it absolutely feels like a go cart now.
So I'm at the dealer and I'm going through all the issues i was having and the guy behind the counter asks me what octane i use lol. I said, " 87 is the lowest right and that is what is recommended in the manual, right? " i can see where this going... and then i tell him about the rotten egg...
Talking about ball joints, ive seen a few youtube videos on the ball joint for these jeeps and they are very weak and have plastic components. They all switched to dynatrac ball joints but theyre almost 700 lol.
I will keep this thread updated. If you havent tried a wide open throttle, try it a few times. What do you have to lose? I remember the Rx 8 with a rotary engine you had to do wide open throttles regularly to clean out the carbon or the engine would not run right.
