Only helped a little when I initially switch to 93 for about a quater t
Whatever it did I hope it resolved the issue. I really didnt want the dealer taking everything apart and telling me it's normal. I'm still going tomorrow for them to do the clutch software recall and hopefully my exhaust...
I remember you and the other guy talking about phasers and the timing. I dont think I ever drove the jeep hard enough to even engage the VVT on the higher end lol. Maybe going to 6k rpms knocked the kinks out.
Ok, i hope this works for a few of you guys. My jeep runs almost perfect now, of course if it lugs on a steep incline it will still have detonation. If you baby your engine, STOP. Also, have you guys that are having this issue done a wide open throttle on the highway yet? If not, DO IT...
My only concern is long term, i really planned on keeping this till the wheels fall off as a recreational vehicle. I also planned to learn about this jeep inside out so i can attempt all the maintenance and repairs as long as i didnt have to take the engine apart ? i guess im getting a crash course.
Ill see on thursday but i would imagine the o2 sensors would have set the cel off but who knows if its within the parameters. Ill let them deal with it, like i said its only at 6k miles so i have 54k on the motor and i believe the cat has a longer warranty? I think i read somewhere 8yrs or 80k...
Plastic radiator?
I dont think it's a radiator issue. I'm starting to think the noise I hear is excess gas burning in the cat and resonating down the exhaust. That's why I smell rotten eggs from the exhaust intermittently. Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesnt.
The noise mine makes though is more of a crackling, bacon sizzling sound. Not really a rattle. And it only happens in short intermittent spurts, nothing prolonged.
I stopped running at low rpms awhile ago, I try to stay above 2k rpms at any moment if possible. But it still pings on 87 in the 2k to 3k rpm range, I've even noticed it going down hill now when I'm giving it gas. I think something is making my jeep run rich? Maybe that's what's causing the...
In response to using the higher octane, yes it may help but it seems like that would be a band aid on the problem. Why are they saying to use 89 or 93 if the manual says the engine is rated for 87 and to use 87? If they tell me that I'm going to say the manual says to use 87 so im going to use...
How long did they drive the jeep before they said its operating normally? It usually takes about 15 mins for the engine to reach operating temperature, on mine it's dead silent before it reaches operating temperature. Another question, just out of curiosity do you baby the engine? By that I mean...
Really? I dont have the space to store it for months. Even after i recieve a replacement? Or will they not send a replacement until they recieve the damaged one? But if fedex pays the claim shouldnt fedex pick it up? What happens if fedex denies the claim? I guess i just file a dispute with my...
So i ordered an awning 2 months ago and i finally recieved it and it arrived damaged. I contacted the vendor and they sent me an email asking for pictures so a claim could be filed with Fedex. My question is, who picks up or keeps this item if fedex pays a claim to the vendor? This is a 270...
Do you smell sulfer or rotten egg? Mine just started smelling like it but i dont have a check engine light or that. Going in thurs day for my issues, i dont know what could be messing up my cat but i hope its all related because im having a detonation issue too. Maybe running rich? Causing the...
Well i guess the smell goes on the list, probably wont happen at the dealer but there def was a smell. Gald at only 6k miles, still 54k for on the warranty. I doubt its running lean, has to be running rich because my mpg sucks really bad. If its running rich wouldnt that cause a cat to go bad...
Hmmm i just reversed into my garage and i smell a hint of eggs. Stuck my nose near the exhaust and thats where its coming from. Smh, i wonder if this is all related? Can the catalytic converter be going bad at 6k miles???? Really? So 3 causes of egg smell, cat going bad, transmission fluid...
That's how they should know it's not normal. When you drive before it reaches operating temperature it's perfectly silent but when it reaches operating temp it starts. Usually only takes about 10 mins for it to reach operating temperature, just let him drive it longer than or let it idle for 10...
