I agree but what is right and legal is two different things. Still the buyers decision to take that on and not like they can hid the mileage. Plus all warranty starts at first in service mileage to next owner when it is finally titled and registered.
More than likely they do not even submit the title and tag paperwork until after the 7 day window. That allows them to still resell your turn in as "new".
I have run heavier grades to include 5W-40 without issue. That being said, if you already have tapping, masking it with a heavier grade is not going to solve whatever the underlying problem you currently have.
