  4. Who is running 37"-40" tires on the diesel

I’m on 35’s with 4.56’s and assure you they aren’t too much. My mileage is virtually the same as when I had 3.73‘s and the same tires. Now it just runs a little cooler and EGT’s are noticeably lower pulling a load. It feels a bit snappier and more responsive as far as my butt dyno is...
  5. Who is running 37"-40" tires on the diesel

I run 4.56’s and 35’s and couldn’t be happier. I do pull a 6500 gvwr travel trailer occasionally however. I saw no loss of mileage whatsoever from 3.73’s and 35’s. What did get lower were EGT’s and boost numbers though. Folks that don’t think you need to regear don’t haul much around I’m...
  6. VM 3.0 general overview and current observations - Q&A encouraged

This^^^ If you want to tow anywhere near max capacity and have increased tire size appreciably regearing is a very good idea. I’m on 35” tires and regeared to 4.56‘s. Mileage stayed the same as with 31’s and 3.73’s. EGT’s, oil temps, and coolant temps all came down noticeably when pulling my...

  9. Ecodiesel power derating as temps rise?

Definitely where deeper gears would help for multiple reasons.
  10. Ecodiesel power derating as temps rise?

I know a lot of folks won’t be agreeable with my gearing choice for tire size here but… I’m running 4.56’s with 35“ tires. I saw a marked improvement in my EGTs while towing switching from 3.73’s to 4.56’s. I can only assume the extra leverage helps take the load off the turbo a bit. My...
  11. Diesel cooling options and ideas

Pic and shadowing are deceiving. It squats 3/4”. Feels and tows very stable with my Timbren overloads and Fastway weight dist hitch. I’m running Mopar 2” diesel lift springs up front and just a 3/4” spacer with stock springs in rear. It sits dead level unloaded so squat appears exaggerated...
  12. Diesel cooling options and ideas

You think it feels slower after going lower with gearing? Did you adjust the computer for the gearing and tire size to address shifting issues? I’ve got a Banks Derringer and Pedal Monster on mine. After switching to 4.56’s I’m seriously considering ditching the Derringer altogether I’m so...
  13. Diesel cooling options and ideas

My mileage, highway or town, stayed exactly the same with 4.56’s as with 3.73’s on 35” tires. If it helps me to keep my cooling and EGT’s in check I see no downside.
  14. Diesel cooling options and ideas

Made a few observations after having 4.56 gears installed. Previously rig had stock 3.73’s on same 35” tires and would pull just fine but did have more of a tendency for EGT and engine oil temps to creep up. I feel the lower ring and pinions help tremendously there being that now I have a bit...
  15. Diesel Gladiator owners with upgraded gearing ONLY please...

35” Yokohama G003’s at 30 psi on 17” Warn Moonsaults Same mileage I got with 3.73s. I do have a winch/bumper, Fab Fours rocker protection, Roll n Lock tonneau, and carry quite a few tools. Banks Derringer set on 4.
  16. Banks tuner

Good call, my Derringer has been excellent for 12,000 plus miles. Had a couple little issues with it and my Tazer not jiving but a firmware update to the Tazer fixed that. Also heard a lot of complaints towards GDEs transmission tune side of things too.
  17. Diesel Gladiator owners with upgraded gearing ONLY please...

Mine with stock 3.73’s and 35’s wouldn’t get that mileage. I averaged 20-21 on the highway, same as I do with 4.56’s and 35’s.
