Hi All,
I just wrapped up installing a roof rack on my Gladiator, and I chose the Backbone System from Rhino Rack.
I've never run a rack before, and it's primarily so I can bring some toys for enjoyment on this trip.
After way too much research I went with the Backbone System because it bolts...
With less than 300 miles on the clock, it's time to cut and drill into my brand new Jeep Gladiator to install an AEV snorkel.
I consider a snorkel an essential upgrade for the kind of overlanding I enjoy - both for the dust protection and increased confidence in water crossings.
In this video I...
Today the Overland Gladiator build begins in earnest, and I install a ARB single air compressor.
I have this exact compressor mounted under the hood of my Africa Jeep, it's never missed a beat in 5 years of seriously hard use.
The ARB single makes the most sense for an overland vehicle when we...
Hi All,
I'm looking at getting hte Rhino-Rack Backbone and a pioneer platform.
My understanding is that to mount that, I will need cross bars.
Can someone please throw a tape measure on theirs and tell me how much it increased the height of the Gladiator?
So the length from the top of the...
Thanks for the kind words and support!
I still can't wipe the stupid grin off my face - I've had this thing exactly a week now and love it.
Driving on the wrong side of the road is taking some getting used to, though sitting on the wrong side of the car is the hardest part for sure. It's...
Hi Everyone,
It's been another long time in the making, and it's time to kick-off my next major expedition.
I'm setting out to explore all the wild and remote corners of Australia over the next 18 months, in a Gladiator Rubicon I just picked up!
(My route will have to be flexible because of...
As an update for anyone else thinking about this:
I finally got to try the Mopar Winter Wheels on a Gladiator.
They do actually clear the caliper on the rear... by about the thickness of a piece of paper.
So for me, that's a no go and essentially, they don't fit!
With wheel spacers the "bump"...
They have the JK bolt pattern, which is the same as the JT bolt pattern.
The bolt pattern is no an issue, neither is the backspacing for tires that are around 11" wide or less.
The challenge is if the wheels themsvles have a big enough "opening" to clear the calipers.
I just measured one of...
Hi All,
This is me and my JK running "Mopar Winter Wheels" Part Number: 52124455AB
I'm wondering if anyone has actually bolted them on a Gladiator?
Backspacing-wise they should be OK, but they might have a problem clearing the rear brake calipers (which are much bigger than on my JK).
Has...
Thanks very much for the info and measurements!
If you have a minute could you please measure the width of your tires?
I'd like to know the entire width "Bulge to bulge" - I know tires vary with brand, and I want to really make sure the 285/70s I run don't stick out any further than yours...
Yes, thanks very much Dan, you are absolutely right, and a few people in this very thread have done that and it works.
I'm asking *specifically* about the "Mopar Winter Wheels", which are pictured on my JK in this thread (they have the much flatter face).
Cheers,
-Dan
I think the bigger problem is clearing the calipers.
The rotor on the front of my JK is 302mm, and on the rear of the Gladiator they're 350mm.
So even if the calipers are identical (no saying they are), then I would need around 48mm of clearance from my JK caliper to the wheel (that's...
That is my Jeep :)
I'm asking if anyone has ever tried these wheels on a Gladiator?
There is a post at the bottom of last page that says they were told the breaks will not clear, but I can not find a 100% confirmation from someone that really honestly tried to bolt them up.
Any help...
Haha, I was thinking I should register with an alias! ;)
Nothing is confirmed, and Covid is making international plans difficult right now.
I'm just doing a ton of research while there's many feet of snow on the ground and I'm daydreaming.
-Dan
Did you ever try the JK Mopar Steelies to confirm if they fit the Gladiator brakes or not?
I have a set on my JK, and I'm tempted to ask the local dealer if they will let me see if my spare fits on the Gladiator in their lot....
Thanks,
-Dan
