I wonder if the fly in this ointment is that the order can be placed but that it will just sit idle until November? Any indication that anything is actually moving beyond the order stage?
Congrats! So, I will not want the black hardtop either, but hadn't considered painting it. Do you think it will hold paint ok just like the primed version? I guess the only real difference might be the rough texture.
I was told by Retrax that they will not be making a cover for the Gladiator due to the protrusion of the fuel filler neck and the closed rails preventing the use of C-clamps to fasten the cover to the bed.
I'm so jealous! Still trying to hold out for painted hardtop, hopefully by mid October it will be green-lit. That would give me about 10 weeks to get it built before the end of the year hits.
Been waiting on Gator but may go Black instead and have it wrapped. I live in Los Angeles- anyone have an idea of cost to wrap and/or recommendations of a good shop?
I spoke to a sales manager tonight and he was pretty confident that if I placed a Gator order now, that it would just sit in the system until sometime in October- so no real reason to put it in now. Hmmm. I guess I need to just chill for a bit and perhaps my luck will allow me to order the truck...
Since I'm trying to get my delivery by year end, I wonder if I should just go soft top and order a primed hard top to have painted whenever they'd be available - I guess I'd be out $2295 plus whatever it would be to paint it- (I'd expect not too much since there's no disassembly or prep work to...
Might be able to wait a couple more weeks. Trouble is I have an FCA CDI discount code that has to be used by the end of 2019- and I think I use the code at delivery not at order. Hopefully I don’t have to fall back on Sting Gray.
Although I broadly agree with your points, I was not trying to get into a pro/against union thing. I am just concerned about the downstream repercussions if an agreement isn't reached.
I have a friend that works at FCA headquarters. Things seem pretty tenuous with the negotiations- not only do I worry that everyone involved gets a fair deal, but also that there may be disruptions to quality control and production schedules. Back in the 70's, when the UAW was unhappy, all sorts...
I keep scratching my head over the EPA numbers between Rubicon and Overland. 3.73:1 vs 4.1:1 as well as the extra 300lbs the Rubicon weighs. Of course I'm more emotionally attracted to the Rubicon, but I'd be one of those posers who will use it 99% on road... but if the actual fuel economy was...
It's strange that with Gobi, hardtop paint is available with a delay- but I don't see that same delay for Gator listed in the schedule for release. Hopefully it won't further hold up my gator build whenever I'm able to place my order with painted hardtop.
I'm trying really hard to move over to an american vehicle (JT as soon as Gator is available) after being in German cars for the past 20 years- and in the meantime I've been talking to a few dealers. Now I'm reminded why I couldn't stand trying to deal with the Big Three- seriously, they've not...
