I hear ya. I'm short, 5'6" and this is one of the times being vertically challenged is a benefit. I have one broken rib and I thought I was healed enough to take this on, I broke the rib nearly 3 weeks ago.
The twisting and turning was a mutha, ain't no lie. Being 65 adds on. In my mind I...
Nice !! I like the waterproof box for the connections. Like Bandit Lair, I assume you have a charge controller somewhere in line ? Sure, you can connect a panel directly to the battery, but it's better to go through a charge controller to monitor and protect things. Panels can go wonky.
It actually wasn't that complicated at all, the Jeep designers made it uber-easy to do !! The sweating and contortions necessary took the fun out of it though, that's for sure. The only concerning part was taking that UniBit to the panel. I decided to go panel because it was easily...
Before I enlisted, I had a German Shepherd puppy. When I discharged, my dog had become my Dad's dog, of course. Smartest and kindest dog on the planet. IF he liked or trusted you. When I left for boot, he was maybe a month or two old. After boot (3 months of boot for Marines, before your...
When we first started dating in 1988, I took her to my apartment. On my couch was a pair of parachute pants. Black nylon with zippered pockets everywhere. She held them up and said, "Oh wow !! I remember these !! You don't wear these outside, do you ?".
I lied and said, "Of course not !!"...
Continued....
Put the RJ45 (CAT 6e) in the panel. Used a UniBit step bit to drill the hole.
Re-installed, CAT6e plugged in. antenna and CAT6e run over to passenger area. Rubber plug not fully seated, I was doing a visual check
CAT6e and antenna wires.
I finished the install, no pics of...
Well, I fiddle-farted around too long and began my radio install later than planned. It was  outside. So much so that I had to put a towel on my seat, I was sweatin' it up bad.
I learned several things with this project. I'm not a bendy as I used to be. Laying shaped like a capital S...
I'll admit, I saw that and went, "Hacky sack ?!?! They still exist ??" :) Got a couple "competition" Frisbee's in there also ?
Maybe a pair of click-clacks, also ? Some areas called them "clackers".....
I'm just kidding around.....I'll admit, I still have my Duncan yo-yo.... I tried...
Since my radio is going to be permanently mounted (while still maintaining easy removal), I decided to go with a permanent antenna over the magnetic. I didn't want to add yet another chore, pulling the magnetic antenna every time I went through the car wash, I went for a cowl antenna bracket...
Every military Jeep has "pioneer tools" onboard. My M38A1 had them, so every Jeep thereafter has them. This Gladiator is no exception. On the Molle panels in the bed I have a full size axe and a shovel clamped to the panels. Also a fire extinguisher, a coil of rope and a full sized first aid...
Then why would Jeep put that option in there ? I'm not tapping into any wires, the factory wire stub outs are right there, just like the pairs under the hood. Logic dictates it the same thing, only in different locations, for inside or outside the vehicle.
I think the issue may be caused by...
.
That's EXACTLY how I plan on wiring mine up, except I plan on using AUX 3 (already have offroad lights wired to AUX 1, so the active lights will be in a row, not upper left, lower right. Yeah, I'm kinda anal.). My base unit will be tucked way up under the dash, unseen.
I'm waiting on parts...
One of the items under the back seat in my tool bag is a small tackle box designed for fishing weights, etc. . Inside said tackle box I have an assortment of fuses, key fob batteries, a couple AA and AAA batteries, spare bulbs, nitrile gloves, lens cleaners, basically what I call my "vehicle...
Yep. I lived in a really small village on Long Island; Brightwaters. One square mile total. You knew everyone AND what they drove. It was not uncommon to see a car pull up on the "odd" day with the license plate from another car; switched plates to get gas. The whole odd/even ordeal was...
Well, since I'm a newbie with my GMRS license, I had to add a mobile radio to my Jeep. I decided to go with the Midland MXT 275 Jeep branded model. Top of the line ? Hardly. Will it serve my needs ? Most definitely. The cowl bracket for the antenna should be here tomorrow, I'll just plug...
I almost got one of those truck bed tents. But I have Molle panels on all 3 sides. Crap clamped to those panels. And truthfully, the bed ain't that big. I have a huge 3 room Coleman tent with a swinging door, no riiiiiiiip sounds of unzipping doors. Don't need a bed tent.
Yet I still want one.
Oh, I watch the pennies on things that don't matter to me; clothes for example. Years ago my wife threw out one of my favorite shirts; an old work shirt that I wore occasionally. When I was a young'n, I worked at a bar called the OBI South. Famous bar on Long Island. OBI stood for Oak Beach...
LOL
I remember hearing that when I was a kid working at a local gas station. When gas went above $1.00 a gallon, our pumps could not be raised above 99.9 cents a gallon. So we all had to become REAL good at doing the math while standing at the pump (full service only back then). My boss told...
