In search of a truck that tries to do it all, I traded in my F150 for a nicely equipped 2022 Gladiator Sport S Max Tow with the 3.6 Pentastar.
I'm pulling an Apex Nano 208BHS which weighs in at 5,000lbs loaded and no doubt I'll miss the power of the 3.5 Ecoboost.
My main objective is to build...
Your calculations look correct. Is that with the WDH bars connected? Do you have a third measurement of all axles without the WDH bars engaged? That would tell you how much weight is being distributed.
I'm a numbers guy and I will question them if they don't reconcile.
Payload = GVWR - curb weight
CAT scale trumps sticker.
In my case, I have more payload available based on actual weigh-in than indicated on the sticker.
Either way it's only a 75lbs difference and plenty of payload for what...
Question remains why the number on the sticker is lower than the actual number based on the scale. I read somewhere that the sticker number is calculated based on base weight plus average of options added instead of weighing each individual truck at the factory. Maybe the CAT scale was off, but...
Took my 2022 Sport S Max Tow to the CAT scale and came in at 4740lbs. Bone stock, full tank, no driver. GWVR is 6250lbs which gives me 1510lbs of payload. Yellow sticker in door jamb states 1437lbs of cargo weight which is 73lbs lower than actual weigh-in. Not complaining as it should be in my...
It looks like all 3.6L trims with automatics will get the 850RE 8-speed transmission. It's rated 500Nm max torque (369 lb ft). At some point, the diesel was supposed to be mated with the 8HP75 which is rated at 750Nm max torque (553 lb ft).
Should the $2,500 be already part of the $3,950 difference?
As a baseline:
JL Sport - $31k
JL Sport S - $34k
JL Sahara - $38k
JL Rubicon - $41k
Any premium or price inflation could be on top of that. I doubt to see prices less than current JL 4 door pricing.
Happy to see how many custom options are offered. It'll come down to pricing, but leaning toward the Sport version with max tow package. Main capability difference of the Rubicon for me would be the 4.10 low range and stock lockers. All else that matters to me would probably get changed anyway...
I would think the 850RE rated at 500Nm max torque (369 lb ft) would not suffice for the 442 lb ft of the EcoDiesel engine. The 8HP75 is rated at 750Nm max torque (553 lb ft) which would be a much better match and indicator that the diesel is indeed coming.
Thanks for the update! Exciting to see more details.
Is the ZF 8HP75 transmission still going to be mated with the diesel? I only see the 850RE transmission mentioned.
Reviving this thread. Nice job on the scaling and numbers.
Anyone have estimates on the total length of the JT? The estimates above put the JT at 190.7" (cab length 129.7" + bed length 61") which sounds a little short. Tacoma short bed is 212.3" and Chevy Colorado is 212.4" and I would expect...
