No remote start in my 2021 Sport.
When it's 32ish F. I start and go. When it's -20F, i start and idle for a few minutes and then go.
At -40F I don't go out.
I have a heated garage at home. At the cabin parked outside, I will plug in the block heater if it's below about 10F.
Never heard of this issue. My 2021 Sport doesn't have any of that stuff.
Need a breeze, CRANK down the windows. Need lights, turn them on. Need a higher gear, push in the clutch and shift.
I LOVE simplicity!
I too had a boat (mine was a gasser) with an Atomic 4 (30 HP four cylinder). 35 years old and it sat one entire sailing season. Had to do a carb replacement. As long as I treated the fuel, never a problem over the winter over decades of ownership.
I don't mean to be cynical, but do those bats in the bed replace the stock bars in the cab? If not, why would you give up he space in the bed. If so, and you removed the stock bars, cool!
Otherwise, if only to look cool (and it does!), seems like a lot of effort, but Irepsect your taste.
You can build your own, or just order a simple manual crank lift. I use this one. I think I ordered from Quadratech. Don't member the cost, but probably more expensive than assembling all the parts yourself.
Works great. My top is hanging in garage at cabin. I am heading there today and...
I never use the nuts. Don't worry about it. The first time my doors came off I put the nuts in the glove box. In the 4 years I've had Vlad the Glad, doors have been on and off about 2 dozen times. Never thought about the threads or nuts until now.
I had it done a few months back. Have not noticed any difference or had any issues.
Just occasional towing (maybe once or twice) with a 16' boat / 50 HP motor. No idea on the weight.
Not my cup of tea! It depends on what you want to use it for. Are those mods something you want and would use. Or, do they all just look cool to you. Either way, think about what's important to you a year down the road.
I have a bare bones 2021 Sport. Manual transmission. No power windows or door locks (wife is OK without the lighted vanity mirror).
I only have 30K miles on it and hope it lasts many years.
If (and this may be a big if), I can get a basic, simple JT down the road, I will do bare bones...
I feel your pain. We have a lot of curvy roads running through the forest. Miles of bare pavement, then a curve with evergreens on the south side shading the sun. Even in 4WD I have slipped and slid on icy roads.
Full time AWD is easier than 4WD. My wife has a Subaru and I love driving it...
I live in northern Minnesota.
In addition to my Gladiator and wife's Subaru Outback, we have a 2021 Celica that has never been driven in the winter.
In May the hardtop comes off and I leave Vlad the Glad in the garage if it looks like rain. to have the third car in the summer.
Once it warms...
