Makes sense. I do need the top to come as close to the ceiling as possible. I thought I could mount it high on the back wall of the garage and run directly to the pulley. I did watch a video of the 440 lb hoist and didn't like how jerky the operation was, so I will probably go the same route...
Appreciate it Dale! I'm ordering the parts from Amazon today.
I'm thinking about using the Harbor Freight 440 Lb Electric Hoist...
I'm thinking that this should be fine as the top only weighs 75 lbs. Thoughts?
Nice hoist set up! I've been wanting to go this route for removing my hardtop and was thinking about reverse engineering the same thing. I really like the bungie cords to keep the top from twisting - something I was concerned about.
Could you provide part numbers or links to the parts you...
OP - Can you post a picture of how the Rigid SR-M Pro Diffused light is mounted next to your license plate? I'm interested in doing this. How hard was the cutting of the metal plate behind the plastic bumper cover? Thanks
I was the same way in the fact I really didn't notice the steering at first. My last Jeep was a 1983 CJ-5 with 33x12.50r15s, so the steering didn't seem much different and thought "its just the way a solid front axle vehicle drives" or "its a Jeep thing". My girl friend and a good buddy of...
Thanks Bill. I was quoted $400-$450 to do a 3/4" level at the dealership (parts and labor). This price includes a realignment. Figured I could get it done a little cheaper if the TSB required a realignment.
The front of the Rubicon rock rail is 1.25" lower than the rear of the rock rail...
My steering gear came in, but they are waiting on the bolts now. Said they should be in tomorrow or Monday. So with any luck I should have the fix done early next week.
Does anybody know if the TSB requires a realignment? I'm thinking about getting a 3/4" level kit installed at the dealer -...
I did not lift, but did switch out the 33s for 35s immediately. To me, the JTR sits perfect on 35s without a lift. There have been several articles discussing 35s on Rubicons and that a lift isn't necessary even at full articulation with the sway bar disconnected.
Welcome to the Jeep family! Nice looking Rubicon! I'm also keeping my Gladiator mostly stock as the Rubicon is already very capable.
I would, however, suggest going ahead and upgrading your tires to 315/70r17s as the Rubicon sits perfectly on 35s (even the spare tire location was made to...
Thanks! No wheel spacers - don't need them!
I call them 35s, they are actually 315/70/17s. They measure within 0.1" of the 35x12.50r17s in diameter and are slightly wider tread-wise. I chose the 315s because they recommend a minimum 8" rim while the 35x12.50s recommend a minimum 8.5" rim...
