Yes, I agree 100%. BUT if I have to wait 1 week to 3 years for FCA to own the problem, and I find a fix that works for me. I will have to step up and do it myself. They aren't going to buy back my jeep and I bought and paid for it, so it's mine.
I hate this for all of us, but we just have to do...
When I took my jeep to the 4 wheel parts place last week to get it aligned I also told them the steering wheel wasn't straight. My post above saying that they couldn't align it because they didn't have the specs yet, but he did say he would adjust the drag link to get the wheel straight. But he...
On my JTR, I not only have the steel OEM bumper but an additional Artec winch plate that goes to both sides of the frame. But after looking at it, those are too far from the steering box to really make much of a difference, since there is a crossmember just in front of the steering box mounting...
Just checked my steering today. Had my neighbor do the wheel while I watched the box, I didn't say anything, had the neighbor look in that certain area, asked him what he saw. He said the frame is flexing !!!! Confirming what I had just seen.
All I can say is WOW !!!! This reminds me of my old...
@TLife
That's crazy, I'm going to check my JT as soon as I can. That's total frame flex !!!! I'm wondering if it needs a cross brace as well, like the old CJ style brace. No wonder FCA won't discuss or acknowledge this..
That's the video of the installation.
Wondering if anyone has a video of the steering box/frame flexing before the installation of this kit?
That would be my deciding factor as to wether or not I need this piece. Kinda doubt the frame is flexing that much to cause the steering issues, I tend to...
I saw this on the F/B page and was wondering if this may be a band-aid or a true fix. Does the box/frame area flex? Is this what's happening? If it's this simple, I would buy and install it, but not sure I am completely in agreement with this situation. I did have a bracket on my CJ steering box...
It's hard to say, but do yourself a favor. On the test ride get on the highway over 40-45 mph and just drive it, you should know the issue in about 2-3 miles, or if you can hook up a trailer and then you should know it in about 1 mile.
Mine steering sucks worse while pulling a trailer.
Took the jeep to 4 wd parts this morning, made sure they knew I was bringing my JT. Got there and they took it to the machine, about 10 minutes later the service mgr comes out to tell me they don't have the calibration numbers for the JT yet and added the 19' JL either. WTF?????? Could they not...
I regularly have people ask me " how I like my new jeep" , they are expecting me to go nuts telling them how much I like it. On the contrary, I am not so sure yet. I tell them, time will tell..
Will FCA reimburse for an alignment at an independent shop? As much as I hate, the local 4WD...
Longshot here, but hear me out.
What if the toe is out of adjustment? Do they align these before they leave Toledo? If so, and there are say 4 or 5 machines, would it be possible that maybe one of those machines is not calibrated correctly? And the ones that aren't right were possibly aligned on...
We sometimes meet on James Island and take a ride out to the beach, then other times we meet at 5 Guys on Rivers Ave. Always 2nd Tuesday of the month 7 PM.
We have a facebook page ( Lowcountry Jeep Club ), request a membership, and I will approve you.
I thought all of this complaint stuff was because some of y'all never drove a jeep. I was wrong, mine does it as well, and I can say, I have had jeeps my entire life, I'm 57. Thought the worst driving jeep was my CJ-5 with lift shackles. Wanna drive that home at age 17 with a few too many...
Andy,
You gotta bring this to a Lowcountry Jeep Club meeting, we meet 2nd Tuesday of the month. Gobi was my first choice, but couldn't wait. Hope it looks as good as expected.
