It's identical in every way that matters to the JL, that gets a 392 from the factory. The ecodiesel was more different than the pentastar and makes more torque than the 5.7L. In reality they already have all the parts, engineering, etc in house. They absolutely could offer it as a $5k a la...
I try not to complain about high fuel costs as we own lifted Jeeps on big tires. Both average 12-13mpg. That's by choice. Of course it helps that the daily is a company car that gets 60mpg... and comes with a gas card. The 600 mile trips to our AZ property are a bit more expensive now, but well...
You burn ~15-20% more fuel at 52% of the cost. You don't even have to be decent at math to know there's a huge savings there. If the livernoise tune was available for my GPEC5 ecu I'd jump on it today. The extra 55ftlbs of torque would be an added bonus.
Which is why I'd rather see the 392. 470hp if jeep does it, 505 if you go to amw. You can argue the v8 is an old solution... but old v8s made worse power than the pentastar. A modern v8 makes more than enough power, sounds better than any of the FI options, and still gets similar fuel economy...
When its got double the hp of the v6, pin it and the front end is now lighter than the pentastar thanks to weight transfer. The pentastar doesn't make enough power to keep the front end up in the whoops at speed. Unlimited budget trophy trucks still run v8s for the most part, I wonder why?
Hasn't Toyota had multiple recalls with their new hybrid truck engines, many of which involved full engine replacement? Not sure I'd trust a new Toyota any more than the Jeep.
I've never worn out a steering wheel on anything and we've had several Jeeps go well past 200k. I think it's a solution looking for a problem but to each their own I guess.
They are under damped, short stroke, cheap garbage shocks that are far softer than the mojave shocks. If you like a firm ride and want a cheap replacement go bilstein 5100s. The bolts are larger on the mojave shocks so you'll have to swap shock bushing sleeves out either way.
I know technically these 1 offs don't get recertification so the numbers are whatever they were for the stock vehicle, but I'd bet it would tow and haul as good as any gas dually.
Good luck finding 15" wheels that will clear the stock brakes let alone portals. Not to mention how goofy 4" of lift and 35s will look and the fact that the portals gear reduction puts you in the 5.13+ range even with stock gears which would suck on 35s at freeway speed.
It's not really any less practical Thabo a full size dually with an 8' bed. Obviously it wouldn't have the same towing and hauling capabilities (likely closer than anyone would want to admit assuming the frame extension was built stout enough), but maneuverability would be about the same. The...
I agree with others, something is sticking. Could be the transfer case is sticking in 4hi, could be the locker, could be the fad. Jack up the drivers tire and spin it. If it won't spin at all then you have multiple things stuck as it would have to be locked with either the FAD stuck or the...
You should seal up that radiator and cover the bottom of the engine from frame rail to frame rail. You know water gets in the engine bay of every vehicle ever in a rainstorm right?
What about the value of what you think? I love the look of MY gladiator. As far as function, that's the reason I run aggressive tires. They see dirt and rocks and mud and snow regularly. If you look at a built rig and assume it's all a waste because of your use, you're doing it wrong. Sure...
Even if the street tire/ wheel setup was free (likely not even close to that), I don't think you'd save as much as you think. Unless you're going down several tire sizes, which then looks goofy every damn day. Same size or even slightly smaller street tires might save .5-1 mpg over aggressive...
We get it. When YOUR vehicle is problematic it's personal. The brand sucks, they are all going to fail in the same way, this must be a common problem for every Jeep owner because I found 3 other people on the forum AND 1 on reddit. That's an emotional response not rooted in reality. The cam...
