Yeah it's an odd situatioon with the Ram 1500 vs the Grand Cherokee.
The Grand Cherokee's highest tow rating is with the EcoDiesel, the Ram 1500's higher payload and towing rating is with the 5.7 Hemi (1,700+ 10,000+) rather than the EcoDiesel, and while the Pentastar gets get the highest...
The spy photo of the JL on the line looked very much like a Sport, and it had vents so nothing is certain regarding that.
Not exactly, the 75th anniversary, and other editions like the Chief or my Aspen-X have the vented hood and they are special editions based on the Sahara, so there is a few...
I still kinda hate that lock as it tends to collect road/trail grime etc. However I haven't had any issue with them working as a lock, so the concept of "if it ain't broke..." has a bit more weight I guess even for myself, versus making it more flush mounted.
As mentioned in the other thread...
It's not lazy, it's redundant BS for no reason when there's better solutions out there.
The path to the sad ending is when we have the technology for a better solution, like "rememebr last setting", but because people are more interested in half-measures that do nothing until they move to...
My guess is the diesel beats the GC, and crests at 7,500+, and the Pentastar beats the Tacoma (6,400) and does better than 6,500+, again with a slight bump over the GC.
The suspension is a true truck suspension with proper design considerations as seen in the CAD files, I think it's pretty easy...
Well, it's 9 months before they can even start working on retooling the production line, so about behind 12 months the JL line's life cycle. At this time last year we were still seeing JL mules with the JK interior and 430 radio and JK HVAC. Likely the JT interior is the last thing tfor test as...
Yeah they do that, but that's not good enough. We want the "Remember last setting" or "permanent disable" feature to not have to keep pressing the button each time.
Likely there will be trim levels similar but I would be very surprised if they reused the Sahara and Rubicon as they are specifically tied to the Wrangler.
I suspect you will see other names used.
I would've expected a names like Chief, Scout, Comanche, Pioneer all of which have a history with...
It'll be interesting to see what they add to the EcoDiesel in the Gen3 update beyond just ESS, and whether they improved power or focus on reducing emissions, possibly to meet Europe's newly discovered interest in diesel pollutants in cities.
Putting it in the Wrangler (JL or JT) first as a...
I think the odds are good, as it would remain a differentiator, but I think the odds are equal that it will still be matted to the Pentastar and not the diesel because of torque limits and to re-use parts from the JL bin to keep costs in line.
However if they get a proper tougher manual...
Definitely the new 12-bolt Axle/Diff, too bad the file name doesn't help decode/guess the model name from Dana.
I was hoping some filename with a Dxx combo or 2 digit combo in there would give a hint, but it seems like a generic number string that starts with FC... and containing AAW and random...
At first I was impressed by the engine noise, thinking, "Whoa, that sounds GRrreat, and definitely the diesel, Diesel fans are gonna Love this ! "
... and then the Big Garbage Truck crosses the frame.. D'Oh !!
Looking good though, and I have to agree regarding the Crew Chief front end...
I think that rumour came about partly due to the feature not being listed in this thread's build options. I don't remember seeing that rumour before then, and it spread quickly afterwards people noting its absence.
Now, if they did drop the money-generating package, which still seems unlikely...
ESS has nothing to do with offering a manual transmission. Cummins doesn't offer ESS on their engines, and they are the only other ones currently paired with a manual transmission. What manual Transmission F-150 is out there now diesel or gasoline?
Also the EcoDiesel currently doesn't have ESS...
I wouldn't use ESS as a guide of manual/auto, there are lots of manual transmission ESS system in Europe and abroad... including a lot of the Alfa Romeos, and.. the Wrangler CRD diesel.
Actually it would be quite easy to make it firmware selectable feature, and charge for each, although it...
That's a pic of the JLU, the JL isn't supposed to increase its wheelbase, and the seats might be pushed further back due to angine bay constraints, window rake, comfort, etc.
So rear JL cargo space may drop, maybe not, but I don't see it increasing, though it would be nice.
Composite bed is nice if built on a good structure and ontop of a good framework and integrate it well into the 'non-composit' stuff.
It's usually slightly more expensive than a steel bed, but also cheaper than an Aluminium one (especially if you don't already work extensively in Alu). Also...
Likely R&T got it wrong, especially basing it on a 'Detroit' News article coming outta Texas, that's like a Salsa coming outta New York City !!
Better sources are the Detroit Free Press or better yet, the Toledo Blade, they actually have feet on the ground where the vehicles are made.
