I had one on my Wrangler, and just kept it when I got my Gladiator. I don't have remote (keyless) entry, so no big deal. I leave a spare key (not my remote) and like $20 in a sealed plastic bag in there, for emergencies. And if I'm going somewhere wet (kayaking, etc...), I do the same, but...
I don't notice any change in driving due to weight. Ask me again when I have my rooftop tent on, but as that (and the bars) are only another 120 lbs or so, I think we'll be OK.
I highly recommend the Upper Decker (drilling into bed is pretty easy for this one -and minimal) with Custom Camping Concept towers and bars. That is what I did and it gives me:
1) Secure in bed storage that is weatherproof
2) On top of Decker exposed storage (good for camping) - easy to lash...
I used a Racor Garage Ceiling Storage Rack.
It allows me to store the soft top (or other stuff) on the 4x4 rack. I also ran ratchet straps with J hooks through the rack, and I use those to attach to the Jeep hardtop and just lift it up. The drill attachment for the rack allows for quick...
The drilling was my concern. With square bars, I can use just about anything I want on top without fear that it won't fit (or that I have to drill). I'm also considering putting a Bundutec (or other) awning on there for day trips and stuff, and so I wanted bars that went out at least to the...
The cost of the pieces (from Custom Camping Concepts) was about the same. So with the fabricated piece (materials and labor) added on, it ended up being more.
However, I believe that I get more usable space, both under the bars (height and lack of the angle) as well as a more useful bar system...
I was denied my rebate because I received a military discount on my purchase directly from Bestop, despite the fact that my military discount was LESS than the rebate.
Furthermore, I purchased this directly from Bestop, eliminating 3rd party retailers, in part due to the discount and in part...
A lot of the money for a RTT goes into the support/flooring that isn't on a ground tent. And the mechanics to have it fold up so well.
On a separate note, my contact for the Opus trailers thinks that the OpLite trailer will come in well under 20K to start, which is good.
So I finally got my brackets fabricated for my Ace Upper Decker.
I still need to prime and paint the whole set-up (bars, towers, hardware), but here is a pic for now.
The Custom Camping Concepts towers (with cross bars)have been welded to a bracket that attaches into the Ace Upper Decker...

Adventure Motors (https://adventure-motors.com/)
They do a lot of custom Toyota overlanding work, and deal Opus trailers.
They are acually also custom fitting my ACE Upper Decker and Custom Camping Concepts towers and bars, so that I can easily attach/remove the rack system from the Upper...
I have an ACE Upper Decker. I didn't like their RTT bars though - I wanted something that provided more flexibility.
So I got Custom Camping Concept Towers and Bars, and have a guy (tomorrow, actually) mating those to the Upper Decker with easy to remove bolts. I'll have pics soon, but I will...
We are about to pull the trigger on an Air Opus as well. Love the space, durability, towability, and the fact that it can fit in my 3rd garage space with no problems.
We are up in the air right now as to get an Air Opus 2 or the soon to be released, and a little smaller, OpLite. If the OpLite...
Thanks. I will measure my cover when retracted later on to see if I can get one.
I may not need to anyway, as I have an Ace Upper Decker which gives me a "2nd level" of flat storage, and will be adding on Custom Camping Concept towers and cross bars to the Decker this week, for a Roof Top...
