From everything I've ever read or heard is that the only way to get the numbers on your door changed is to have your vehicle re-certified by the manufacturer. If you ever could find a manufacturer that would do it it would probably be extremely expensive.
As for the topic, I'm in the same boat...
All of those things will have an effect on towing stability. Depending on what kind of lift you do, most off road shocks and springs tend be softer than standard suspension seen on vehicles that are more towing capable. If you plan to tow heavy I recommend getting airbags at least in the back...
Those winches can be a pita especially if you drive on a lot of dirt. There are a couple companies planning on some form a swing out, and if any of them can figure what to do with the back up camera I would go that route.
I'm going to be doing something similar. Start with 2-3" lift, 37s, winch, 40gal aux tank in the bed, enclosed shorter rack where the top of the rtt is level with the top of the cab, fridge and storage in the bed.
I wish they would come out with an edition that's somewhere between the Sport S and Rubicon. Like the Overland, but with max payload, Rubicon fenders, and electronic lockers. Oh, and a 2-door would be swell FCA.
I'm not sure about the jl, but I know there is a company that makes a conversion kit for a jku that's pretty much drop in after you remove part of the roll bars.
Yep, this is definitely the color I'm going to get. Even though I liked the darker greens people talked about in the other thread, they just wouldn't work for me.
This is pretty much the build I want to do. Love the color, and if Jeep sold this package I'd pick it up. Those seats, minus the topo stuff, is what saddle brown should have looked like. I would change the top to black or ptm, and probably put a cap instead of a rack on the bed to cover a...
The diesel might possibly be slightly faster off the line, but the gasser would over take it pretty quickly. A diesels shining star is its low end torque. Its drawback in racing is all that torque drops off relatively low into the rpm range. Now, there is a pretty big diesel aftermarket...
Another thing I can see about this, is everyone knows Ford loves their best in class titles. So, I can see the 2-door having something like 4-5000# towing while the 4-door has 7-8000#.
I know one of the issues with going with a larger replacement tank is be able to adjust the fuel tank size in the computer. Fairly recently, when someone wanted a 55 gallon replacement, the computer would freak out if the gauge set at full for too long and would drop fuel reading to empty...
I'm a country boy, and for the most part have always had full size trucks with V8s as my daily driver. I would have never thought I'd be interested in an electric vehicle. No truck options, and living in Texas, nothing manufactured was practical. I can see a lot of potential with this truck...
I didn't think much of it when I first saw, but reading more into it, it is starting to grow on me. If in a few years they can get the range up to around 500 miles and add features like this, their modular bed system,
I may heavily consider getting one.
I had no idea, thanks.
Even though my comment was tongue in cheek, it is still true. Regardless of who gets the vehicles first consumers are the ones that pick up the cost. Whether it be through tax dollars or paying 50k+ for a mid-sized truck. If the Govt gets them first then that just...
