I had read this thread months ago, dreaming of buying either of these products. With baby #2 on the way I just couldn't justify spending that much on something I likely wouldn't "use" for anything other than a step and to avoid door dings. I don't anticipate doing any real rock crawling, but I...
The back one sucked until I got heat on it, but that front bolt, goodness gracious... The guy who installed that better hope we never meet because it's going to be ON SIGHT. It's like they had a quota to meet with the amount of red loctite they use, so he dumped the last 1/4 gallon on that bolt...
I was pretty excited, bought some Rock Hard Patriot sliders today, and naturally the first ******* bolt I try to remove may have broken...
**** EDIT, a little more heat + downward pressure = it's out
I'm perfectly fine with a light pedal, but if it had just a *hint* of feeling that would be great. I do appreciate the lightness on the rare occasion I get stuck in traffic
I'm still on the fence about going to 35s... For sure they would look better, but I'm rocking a manual transmission and I'm not going to spend $2k+ regearing the truck. I also drive 90 miles a day for work, so the MPG hit would not be fun either, and I hear that 35s + manual + 3.73 gears = no bueno
Removed the 3/4" Daystar level and installed a 1.5" level (Amazon Terraflex 1.5" knockoff). Looks much better in my opinion. With the bumper and winch it sits about exactly where I want it to. Doesn't look too bad with 33's either, which is what my main concern was.
Glad you found yours!
I had a similar situation, waited years before finally deciding it was time. Drove 8 hrs each way to go get my dream truck, a Stingray Willys with the 6mt. Well worth the wait, even though I (we) had to go used to get our preferred transmission.
I just adjusted mine last week, via the center console.
Honestly, I hadn't even considered adjusting it at the wheel, didn't know that was a thing...
Took about 5 minutes, brake lever is much better and the Jeep doesn't feel like its going to roll down the driveway.
I've driven 100 + miles at 70mph + with the soft top down, no straps, and never encountered an issue.
I did buy some cheap straps to use "just in case" for longer topless trips now, because we get some pretty insane crosswinds where I live and I don't want a freak incident when I could've...
+1 to both of these. Yeah, I can probably get out with some traction pads, a shovel, and a heavy right foot, OR I can run a line to the nearest tree and pull myself out in 3 minutes.
I was going to wait to buy mine because I won't be doing any family wheeling for at least another year (until...
Yep, I just dropped from 18.2 to 16.3 basically overnight. Same commute (90 miles of straight highway every day), same everything. Oh well, just part of living where it gets cold
Looking for a nice set of trails, or an off road park, that is within 12 hours of southern Wisconsin. I did the Badlands Off Road park in Indiana earlier this year and had a blast. I have a kid on the way so I'm looking to do one last 3-4 day trip (with travel) before the kid comes in January...
I posted this in September:
I went on a Jeep FB page, mentioned the Apex winch and the 25% coupons, and I had multiple people offer me their 25% off coupons because they weren't using them. They're individually numbered so it's a one-time use thing, but there are a lot of people out there...
Exactly. In addition to the "just in case" people, with the amount of money saved by getting a Willys or Sport S, you can get yourself a nice winch, traction boards, tow straps, etc... and still have thousands left over for nicer wheels, tires, etc..
