I have the 6spd with 72K. I lost a cam before the clutch. But, I will say when new managing the clutch was tough for the following reasons:
1) two plate design was mushy as heck for about 2k miles
2)No low end grunt with the 3.6
3)Dual mass flywheel makes stalling even more likely
4)Heavy...
Im not happy about some Moab trails getting closed but what percent does it represent?
More important is the ECO groups form a great firewall against those who would like to sell off our
public lands to private interests and deprive us of access forever.
Increasing national park lands and...
Out
Why indeed! Soccer van motor in a Mojave!
The "detune" was just a power drop if your slipping the clutch too much. Normally it has no effect. The mechanic suspected improper camshaft heat treatment because every lobe on right cam was similarly damaged while left cam was still perfect...
Id sure like to see JDPowers break out the 6spd manual from that report.
Until I lost the cam (and confidence in the 3.6) at 71k miles I had ZERO ISSUES with my 2021 Manual 6spd Mojave. No clutch problems, no battery problems nothing. I was expecting to keep this thing past 200k like most of...
Ok, so my 2021 Mojave with 71K lost its right side cam. Every high lift lobe was toast. Left side is pristine.
The engine really should have been retuned for more low rpm torque for the 6spd manual.
At 8000feet it regularly sees 5000rpm to make it move like a Mojave is meant to. I have no doubt...
Right. This engine behind an auto driving normally should be bullet proof. But at 8000 with lots of elevation changes and only 6sp I see 5k all the time. What I found perplexing about the cam failure was only the right bank intake failed. The other three cams were in great shape. Seems to me...
Thanks for the clarification. So what happens when you need a jump or need to jump another vehicle? Is the IBS subjected to starter current? The other question is whether IBS data plays a role in the alternator control. If so then does the AUX battery just tag along for the "charge" getting...
I have no charging issues, yet, but what are they trying to say here: "Please note charge through the IBS or tie negative clamp to body/engine ground".
Compared to the old single battery system this seems quite a bit more complex. The real gotcha from what I gather is throwing your charger...
I mentioned my 2021(late) Mojave with 6spd manual. Zero issues until right bank cam failed at 71K. But I live at 8000 feet and with a manual your going to spin it up past 4k rpm all the time. I suspect the engine design is on the edge in those conditions and would not be surprised to learn the...
Smart man your brother for replacing it at 40K. But car in the 60s were going well past 40K so its kind of expected todays cars are trouble free for well over that. Now, if it was trouble free at 400K we would be impressed.
I run QS 5w30 in my 4.0 with 286K because that engine was designed for that weight. But weight does not correlate with wear resistance automatically. There are terrible 20w50 that have far less wear protection than some 0w20. The reason I will switch to 5w30 of the same brand is that it has...
In engines designed to run 0w20 switching to 5w30 would not likely not prevent a failure. Failure is a design or manufacturing deficiency. However the highest wear resistant oil I know of is a 5w30 and that should extend the life of an engine as far as wear goes.
Well my late bone stock 2021 Mojave is an exception. Meticulous oil changes (sadly it was 0w-20 for warranty) and at 72K miles right cam total failure all high lift lobes. Left bank perfect. Mine is a MT and engine gets wound up more between gears but that's jeeps design point. OTOH my 2000...
Update: My mechanic fixed jeep. Every high lift lobe on the passenger side intake was destroyed along with of course the rockers. Left side was perfect. Ill post a pic later but I think its pretty plain that one cam with complete failure vs the other still in great shape points to a serious...
How about an engine that lasts longer than the brake pads!!
Late 2021 Mojave 72Kmiles<<<<<<
Trip to Texas last weekend, power drops, check engine light, Loud Tick, code 200A.
We all know what that means on the 3.6 engine.
>>> Seriously the brake pads still have a lot of life left unlike the...
My Turn! late 2021 Mojave 72k miles. Noticed poorer millage starting a few weeks ago. On Saturday trip to Texas check engine flashed a few times then stayed on. Power down and noticeable tick. Code 200A and random misfire code. All pressures and temps remained normal.
Oil changes at ~5k...
