I am still trying to figure this out. I am on my 5th Wrangler and I get the fun of top off and doors off and wheeling. I live in Colorado, one of the best off road places around! My last truck was a JLU Rubicon. I was very interested in the JT, particularly when I heard about the towing...
SO I am still trying to figure out if this will tow my trailer. I can't find the GVWR (gross vehicle weight rating) in the specs. Can I add the base weight plus payload to arrive at this number accurately? Is the stated base weight assuming a full tank of gas?
Here's the calculations:
GVWR...
Seems to me TLF Car drove one from the press event (sometime after the LA Auto). Guesses on when Jeep will let reviewers get their hands on them? I assume there will be a press event at some point where they can do test drives...
Disappointed many options are not available on the Sport S which would have my preference. I don't need lockers or sway bar disconnect. But I do want several options ONLY offered on the Rubicon between the two. Bummed and hoping things change before ordering. Options only offered on Rubicon...
I found a great form to fill in to do the actual calculations. Its says its for fifth wheels but any trailer can be calculated.

well none of the non OEM are mounted in a dash, they all mount underneath. at least the aftermarkets do. No cutting. But agreed, factory would certainly be best, no question.
I wouldn't expect a plug and play solution, almost all brake controllers are an aftermarket solution. But there is a Mopar part for the Cherokee so it may be coming...
Thanks for this. I will have to buy the Sport with the max tow package to get the capacity I need - thats the configuration that gives the most capacity
The Jeep does come with a 7 pin connection so after installing a brake controller we'll be set to control the trailers brakes. But you bring up good questions on the adaptive cruise and collision avoidance, hopefully someone towing with those systems on another vehicle can add some light.
So we all know the maximum towing capacity shown for the JT is 7,650 lbs. I have a travel trailer that's 5000 lbs dry, with a GVWR of 7,550. It has a tongue weight of 550 lbs. I think there is more than a manufacturers stated towing capacity to know if you can tow something safely, some...
