So I got part of it installed. I was sent an adhesive kit for a JL by mistake and they are already taking care of that and sending out the correct one. I did finish the front panels and the install was easy. The fit and finished look is outstanding. I added the 81 mil thick Kilmat sound deadener...
I got mine and will get it installed tomorrow. I ordered the same Kilmat , 3M tape and rollers so I hope it goes without any issues. I’ll post back when it’s done.
I’ve driven in sand dunes and beaches for 40+ years (Pismo, Dumont, Glamis, Oregon, and so on). I always aired down my TJ on 35s to 6 psi. My JT when I go will probably be in the 8-10 because of weight and the 37s. I’ve pulled dozens of people out over the years who were afraid to air down a...
There could be several issues.
1. The piece could have been machined incorrectly so when mounted and torqued down it created a bind on the sector shaft.
2. the shop tightened the fasteners “out of order”. There is an order that they should be torqued down, at least with the Synergy.
3. the...
I have a large bag with several smaller zipper nylon bags inside. Each small bag is labeled with what’s in it. I carry a decent compliment of tools if I’m going out very far. I’ll also take a separate bag with my big 1/2 Dewalt ( with specific sockets for tire changes) and the 3/8 impact driver...
Going out on a limb here.. but are the tires spinning in the wheels? I’ve seen this happen just a couple of times, and it was surprising to say the least. Next time they are balanced, make a mark (like you’d do on a torqued bolt) between the tire and wheel and drive as you normally do. Check...
For a gas JT, the Synergy brace is easy to install. The newer bearing update seems to have solved any issues. I had bought one for my gas JT, but then sold the gas JT and got a diesel model. For the install, I carefully ground out the small gusset/bracket that’s in the way and it went on easily...
I’ve ordered one.. but keep getting pushed back on the delivery date. Got a good price from Real Truck and they drop ship from CK so I guess they are behind..
Every once in a while I get the idea that I’m wanting a bike.. I’ve narrowed choices down to a Honda XL 650R and the KTM 690 Enduro R. If both are new, there’s about a $4kish difference in price for the KTM.. but the KTM is DAMN nice bikes s far ahead of the Honda in technology and power.
So...
I decided I needed a set and picked them up Wednesday. I spent most all of yesterday getting them on, but I don’t move as fast as I used to so that added some time. So some thoughts..
1. The new Gen 3 versions are very well made. All the hardware is grade 8 and everything was there. The new...
If you’re asking about the 2.5 Fox Race Series with the DSS adjusters, then yes I have them and they are outstanding. I combined them with a 3.0 Rock Krawler X Factor and 37s.
I set them 3 up from full soft for the street and they are easily adjusted up for anything else. The bolt on with the...
I really don’t care for the red dash in my Rubicon.. if given a choice, I’ll be ordering the black leather/red stitching type that came in the launch editions. Or if I can find a local place that does hydro dipping, I’ll pick a pattern a go that way.
I believe the bolt pattern is different from the 850 transmission to the 875 ( the diesel has the larger transmission). AMW machines a billet from half to adapt the 875 trans to the non diesel case. This is due to them using the 875 transmission in their V8 installs.
You’ll need the 1 5/8 Fox bracket… but good luck finding one.. I looked for 2 weeks and happened on to what I think was the only one in existence at that time. I even called Fox and they weren’t expecting any production on that part number until mid April. Synergy makes a generic bracket, but...
The reason they say it won’t fit a Mojave (or the diesel motor JT) is that there is an added gusset on the front side of the spring tower. The brace has to fit tightly to frame and the gusset is in the way. I removed the gusset with a grinder and very small cut off wheel and smoothed the area...
