Got my parking brake adjusted, the adjusters on the brake shoes and then the cable tension under the center console. Now able to hold it in place while in neutral, both uphill and downhill, on the posted 10% grade section on the next block over. I'm good with that.
I suspect that there was a...
You have to completely remove the original orange wiring harness from the wheel and replace it with the new orange wiring harness that is in the kit. The paddle shifter levers are integrated into the pieces that have the radio buttons, you don't lose any functionality. There is at least one more...
Not too bad.
Taking things apart had trouble with the little two wire connector for the horn. Mostly having to hold the airbag while using a pick tool to get that little connector to release.
This connector on the steering wheel was also difficult.
I just couldn't figure out how the release...
Finished the paddle shifter install:
Much maintenance so far this week. Replaced both air filters, did 5 tire rotation, engine oil and filter change, and replaced both batteries. Now trying to adjust the parking brake, because it is merely a suggestion at this point.
If you took the big fuses going to the compressor motors out during the install, did you put them back in their fuse holders?
Check the Aux 1 fuse.
Go to the menu for the Aux buttons in the center display and make sure that the setting for Aux 1 is set to be persistent (not momentary) and I...
No.
The trailer brake controller causes the brakes on the trailer to be applied when you apply the brakes in the tow vehicle.
The Trailer Sway Control System would be applying the brakes individually on the Gladiator.
There is only one wire for the trailer brakes in a 7 pin connector, so no...
Here is what my failed rear axle locker position sensor looked like.
You can see that it is half full of gear oil which is what shorts out the components on the tiny circuit board inside it. This is that actual sensor that is inside the differential housing itself. There is a little wiring...
Not according to my owners manual. Discerning the difference between orange with pink stripe and pink with orange stripe can be a challenge. Pulling the Aux 3 / ingnition wire fuses one at a time will let you confirm which one you did wire the radio to.
Okay. Here is what I'm towing (this is on the day that we picked the trailer up):
Trailer is probably close to 3300 lbs fully loaded, water, food, gear, mountain bikes.
I installed the Mopar trailer brake controller myself, that was a pain to do.
Options that you add to the Casita can add to...
Sorry, I didn't try to verify that 111 ft lbs + 65 degrees = 185 ft lbs. The instructions for the RH skids said to go to 190 ft lbs for the bolts they supplied (the coarse thread ones) and since the Mopar instructions said 185 ft lbs I just went with that cause it seemed reasonable (I did assume...
I ended up replacing the aftermarket coarse thread bolts because they were rusting with longer gold zinc ones with the same thread pitch as the OE ones, so I torqued them to 185 ft lbs as the instructions said.
Details on the replacement bolts in this thread.
If they appear similar to OE, then they are probably UNF 5/8 - 18 which has 18 threads per inch.
The OE bolts have thread pitch of 1.5 mm, so 25.4 / 1.5 = 16.9333..... threads per inch.
There are reasons that I didn't end up in a mechanical engineering / material science career but 65/360 x...
Are those the stock bolts? If they are aftermarket / longer, the "+so many degrees" is only for the thread pitch of the OE bolts. The OE LCA to frame are M16x1.5 Fine. FWIW the instructions for the Mopar 2" lift that I have says torque them to 185 ft lbs.
If the bolts you are using are coarse...
Wheels that I have the center caps snap in from the back side. The way my luck tends to go is that I'd end up breaking off a plastic tab on a center cap. Having a spare guarantees that I'll never break one. ;)
I don't have a lift so I only jack one wheel into the air at a time. This way I'm...
I have 37x12.5 Mickey Thompson Baja Boss and the spare fits under the bed, but I did have to bend out the lower edge of the heat shield in places because it was catching on the tread blocks as I was trying to crank the spare up.
One thing not mentioned so far is that a swing away tire carrier...

I ordered it from AMP, still haven't made time to install it yet.
