The Facebook group is pretty active with people sharing failures and experiences getting preemptively or retroactively reimbursed. There doesn't seem to be a rhyme or reason why some get a check and others don't. Nothing affirmative on what the actual fix is yet but I'm not holding my breath for...
Looks like it didn't do too bad either despite the air bags. Modern car safety is awesome. I've been looking at some XJs and often run into totaled ones that look crushed like a soda can.
I'd DEFINITELY trade my sarge green basic sport grill for a sarge 2024 grill. I highly doubt anyone will actually want to trade once they see how good the new grill looks in person unless the prefer the sport grill + halogens "TJ" style front end as I call it.
That does look like it to me. If that's the case and the article details are correct, it was not a fatality crash. It's all hearsay at this point but I'm curious to learn more if it becomes available.
The person who posted that video (his friends video) on Reddit said the opposing driver that was hit was killed. The driver of the Jeep was not killed.
From my anecdotal perspective, 0w20 is fine. If you're hard on the oil, just change it more frequently. I've done so much research on the 3.6 viscosity topic and can find zero evidence suggesting a thicker oil does any better. If I had, I'd happily switch, warranty or not.
It looks a lot bigger next to a JT than I would've thought. When I drone one, I felt like the hood was very long and wide but it didn't feel much bigger on the road which seems to be corroborated by the front to back length photos you took. I'd take an electric JT over an electric Rivian but I...
IIRC, we have hydraulic mounts. Check to see if there's any fluid on/around them. You might want to put gloves on and feel up around in there. I had a car that had a motor mount if failed would only have a tiny amount of fluid pooled on top of the rubber on the mount. The movement looks pretty...
4.10 is easier than 3.73 from a stop. Torque as the axle is going to be higher all else being equal. That's what I was referring to mainly. The first gear thing is preference I suppose. I've always had close ratio sports cars before the JT so I only used 1st to get moving from a dead stop. I...
Some with 4.10 gears might not say it's that bad but with 3.73s, I think it's pretty much terrible. The "feel" of the engagement and disengagement is snappy and there's not enough inertia to easily move a 5000lb vehicle out of its way in my opinion. This is what Phoenix Friction has to say about...
Timberland's work boot line (safety toe) has been really good for me; I've had several pair. I'm currently wearing a Redback chelsea steel toe that is one of the best boots I've had.
I dumped the 5w20 in this weekend. Same brand I usually use, Valvoline EP. No discernable difference in cold start noise. The engine is otherwise pretty quiet. I think these engines are just a little noisy when cold.
