I took his "midnight on the 30th" to actually mean 12:00am on Sunday 3/31. Either way it'll be nice to finally be able to crunch some numbers to see what options I can afford!
It looks like punkin was removed from the build tool on jeep.com. Weird since I'm pretty sure the display model with the dirt bikes at the reveal was punkin.
Is this going to be a late release color?
I'm really torn between white, sting gray and punkin.
Sorry if this is a stupid question (having never owned a truck before), but how does this tailgate help with loading heavy items?
Traditional tailgate - lift item on to tailgate, slide to the back of bed.
This tailgate - lift item on to bed, slide to the back of bed.
Seems like the exact same...
It definitely looks cool and seems like a novel idea, but I don't see how this is more beneficial in any way than a traditional tailgate. Also being a $1,000 option, I'll pass.
Are your fenders rough like bedliner or smooth like factory color matched flares would be?
When I get a Gladiator I'm definitely getting body color flares. Wasn't a huge fan of them on the JK but with the JL design and black accent strip it looks good. Still undecided if I'll go color matched...
Based on other posts, the max tow package on the Sport comes with a wider axel and different 2 piece fenders. This lip probably has something to do with that.
I have a custom ordered JLU build sheet and window sticker with my name on it, plus factory tracking information from my build, that proves you wrong.
On a separate note, I read a rumor that Gladiator orders would open up March 1st. I expect to also see pricing shortly before then as well...
Vents on hood, higher fender flares, rock rails below doors, black accents on grille, red tow hooks front and rear.
It's clearly a Rubicon with a different side decal and not a Sport like others said.
I'm glad they didn't incorporate a step in to the actual bumper, not a fan of how that looks, but I agree the rocker guard should have doubled as a step. Although, one of the design points Jeep touched on was they intentionally kept the bed lower, to match the body lines from the front. In that...
I have cloth in my JLU and it's been great so far. I do think leather looks better, but it's not worth the upgrade to me. If my cloth seats get stained or wear out in a few years so what? I'll just throw on a seat cover, or upgrade them at that point if I plan on keeping the Jeep longer.
The...
I would gladly take either of these to overland in full time. Would there not be concerns about connecting the bed to the cab with a single piece hard top as I'm guessing they can slightly articulate and flex differently.
I really want to like Gobi but I think it's a little too light for my taste. If it was closer to the tan color available on Tacomas I'd be more interested.
I currently have a white JLU and am debating going red or sting gray when I trade it in for a Gladiator.
I agree. It works on Wranglers because where the black top ends the Jeep ends. On Gladiators you still have 5 more feet of colored Jeep after the black top and it just looks weird having colored hood/body, black top, colored bed.
If you're talking about the Rubicon with the dirt bikes I'm pretty sure it was just red. The lighting really had me confused in some of those pictures.
I'd love to see something like this but also have it connect (or replace) the hard top over the rear seats allowing for more room and access to the camper from the main cab of the truck. Hopefully Ursa Minor comes out with some sort of hardtop popup replacement for the Gladiator.
I have a Sport S JLU and will be going for a Rubicon Gladiator. Although I may not always need lockers and disconnects, I do prefer the aesthetics of the Rubicon much better and, at least with the JL, you have more options available to you (like LED, color matched fenders, etc.).
