I was never a fan of the padded bars in my TJ. Looked a bit goofy, and absorbed every speck of dust and grime that came in contact with them. The JL and JT look sleeker with the color matched outside and trim inside, and are much easier to wipe clean.
I know the hellcrate is a minimum $20k just to buy, but is this build really $137k overall?!
If Jeep never makes a 2 door Gladiator I would love to buy a used Rubicon one day and chop it down to this. Wonder how much that would cost to have done. I can live with the 3.6.... for now.
I'm not quite sure. The JL's don't have that, and having a giant rubber block stuck to your hardtop looks ridiculous lol.
My bet is that it's either to stick between the two panels while in the bag to further prevent rubbing, or chalks to stop the storage bag from sliding around in the bed?
I'm assuming the max tow gets different fenders because it comes with a wider axel. Does this mean that stock Rubicon fenders are already wider than stock Sport fenders? Is this true on the JL as well?
If your main reason for upgrading to the 8.4 is your poor eyesight (and not the added features), should you really be in control of a 5,000lb vehicle going 75mph?
1,300lb payload and 3,500 towing is enough for my weekend toy needs. Maybe an upgraded suspension as part of this kit could bump those numbers?
Brutes and JK8 conversions were so expensive because they had to fabricate everything from scratch. With this you could literally just toss on a...
The conversion kit would be for a JLU, since that's what the J6 is built on. By the time such a hypothetical kit would be released, a used JLU + $10k kit would still be less than a brand new Gladiator Sport.
Even if Jeep never produces a 2 door, I hope the J6 concept creates enough buzz for them to come out with an official MOPAR conversion package.
DV8 already makes a package for the JK which runs about $7,000. Obviously the fit and finish of a MOPAR conversion would be better, and they can use...
If they make a 2 door I imagine it will be almost identical to the J6 concept from this year. Jeep already admitted they were too lazy to redesign the back doors on the Gladiator, no way they completely design brand new doors for a 2 door that will only make up 20% of sales at best.
If they add...
Realistically how difficult would this be to fab up from a JLU?
Chop the body behind the front seats, add a new rear tub wall to close in the cab, find a Gladiator bed, extend it a little, and toss it on the back. For the top you just need to chop the hard top of a Gladiator and probably fuse...
I'm in love with this and would buy it in a heartbeat. To me it's the best of both worlds, functional pickup truck and capable Wrangler. Maybe upgrade the rear suspension for better towing, but that's it.
Where can I find an auto shop to chop up my JLU and turn it in to this?! :)
Honestly, I'd argue a fully loaded Sport S is better than the Overland.
The only things you can't get on a Sport that you can on Overland are leather seats, LED lights, and color matched fenders/top. All of which are fairly easy to upgrade aftermarket or swap with some take offs.
If you...
Maybe I'm ignorant, but I thought it was both that the 7 slots were wider AND the mesh behind them was wider too. Is that not the case and it's just the mesh that's wider?
I was pretty set on an Overland (color matched fenders and LEDs are two main things I wish my JLU Sport had). However, looking at pricing, a fully optioned Sport S still costs less.... and can tow the most. I don't need and will never use the lockers and other extreme off road options on a...
I am. I bought my JL from Dayton Andrew's in St Pete and got ~6% below invoice. If they can do the same on a Gladiator I'll be going back there. Otherwise I might order from one of the higher volume dealers up north.
I'm fairly certain max tow does not come with body color flares. They are different flares, but they're still black plastic and just have an extended lip on them to cover the wider stance due to the axle.
There was a pic a few weeks ago floating around of a black Sport S with these flares.
Not sure what you're trying to reference here. He clearly opens the tailgate and then flips the cover up.
It looks like the cover is held closed the same way the rear glass on a Wrangler hardtop is held closed, by pressure from the tailgate. There's no latch on the rear glass, the same way...
