When it starts warming up in TX, you won't have to worry too much about the ESS. Th HVC system will keep it from kicking in.

There are a lot of trails around the Vegas area! There are some out and backs, like Eldorado Canyon, which narrows. There are some large loops, like Lava Butte. If you get OnX offroad it will show you plenty of trails. There are groups around that have runs almost every weekend.
