My expectation would be less V8s post Peugeot merger as it's so US specific and the merger is also done to accelerate both companies switch to electric. But one never knows. If anything we will get the 392 in the Mojave as that's a low cost low hanging fruit. I doubt we even get it for the JTR.
FWIW stuck with 91 for the 6.4L. Would be fun to do a comparisons series between your 5.7L and a 6.4L in terms of towing, mileage, crawling etc. maybe throw a diesel and 3.6L in there as well. That would be good TV. Wondering if the TLF guys would be open to that with an audience supplied truck...
It's in this crate engine instruction sheet from MOPAR. The 6.4L in the FCA trucks runs on 87 but I don't think that is the SRT version. It's on page 3 here. I'll ask Rubitrux if they have different tunes available
That's a nice upside. Not necessarily cost wise depending on annual mileage but convenience for sure. According to MOPAR "The fuel grade required for both 5.7L and 6.4L engines is premium (91 octane or greater)" so I am curious if the 6.4L could also be detuned to run on 87 since it's also a NA...
Google was giving about 80K for the ranger no? I had a 2017 4runner trail and can't fathom why people keep buying these really dated Toyota trucks at these numbers
The 6.4L kit runs at 35Kish w install plus tax (yuck). You do need to be lifted though so that's added cost if not lifted already. Funny enough when you look at the parts breakdown you see that the vast majority of the 35K is parts (which I am sure the shops take a cut as well).
Sweet. One thing that's somewhat missing is a proper video series about the swaps and also a proper review of the outcome other than doing burnouts. Hope you keep us posted!!
Blower seems to have some reliability issues and it's often stated the 3.6L does not like boost. I had a PROcharger on a previous Mustang and all the music only ever happened above 2.5K with most of the added torque and power coming in at 4.5K rpms. It was great there but can't see that being...
Mines under passenger seat - no tank. It's fun to activate when your passenger is unaware lol. that aside I am mostly happy with the location except that it impacts seat movement a little where you ideally keep the seat in one position and it takes away a not of leg room for the passenger...
Thanks for the inspiration. I always liked the three gauge center pod on my 302 so was looking to add something similar to the JT and the EAG seems to do the trick. Is there also a branded MOPAR one? Can't find it but that may just be me
Don't forget to look at weight of the tire as well. The power loss is very real on my JTR going from the Wildpeak A/T to the Nittos 35s as the engine is keeping much higher revs in all situations be it driving 75 or accelerating to compensate. If you are not going fast in the desert I guess it...
depends on how you plan to use it probably. I have 35x12.5 Nittos now with the 2-inch mopar lift on 17x9 Fuels at 30 PSI for daily driving. fuel economy tanked from 16.5 to 13.5 MPG but otherwise rides better. I would only go 37s if I would think I need the added clearance or just go up to 40s...
Why not drop a HEMI into the GOBI? Your JTR looks really good and since you haul your bike in the bed a truck seems better than having it dangle off the ass off the 392 wrangler. I was in the same boat btw but the math came out about the same and I rather have a HEMI in my built JT than start...
so I was testing my new lights and lift/tires at a local spot that has two nice lines that get really steep to the end and are classic chunky rutted out New England rock crawling tech up in VT. Since it was dark and cold with some snow still on the ground I did not air down and the truck had no...
