No one knows what the payload and towing capacity would be for the J6 since it hasn't been developed yet. Yes, the concept J6 is built on a JLU frame but that doesn't mean the J6, if brought to production, wouldn't be built on a shorter JT frame.
I already have a 4 door Wrangler, also have a Grand Cherokee , a GMC 2500HD and '94 Chevy S10 ZR2. Saying there is no business case for the J6 is like saying there is no business case for a corvette, camaro, mustang, etc. Any chance to sell more engines, transmissions, frames, drivelines...
You are correct. The J6 concept is built on a JLU chassis. Note the muffler location is the same as the JLU which is probably why they built the tire carrier in the bed.
That was my first thought as well, but then I thought they (Jeep) could have as easily displayed one of their other concept vehicles perched on the fake rocks. It seems they don't want folks to get to close to the J6 now. I'm not sure why since it has been shown all across the U.S. not...
I wonder why the J6 is the only concept vehicle Jeep brought to SEMA that is fenced off from the public. It reminds me of the introduction of the JT Gladiator on the auto show circuit last winter. At some of the early show's the Gladiators were fenced so the public couldn't grope them...
I'm hoping the J6 goes into production. I have been waiting for a small off -road truck exactly like the J6 for many years to replace my '94 S10 ZR2, single cab, 6 ' box. It is much more practical for me and my lifestyle than the crew cab Gladiator.
Hmm, the second time viewing the link takes me to an entirely different article which has 52 photos of the scrambler concept. The first time I clicked on the link, it took me to an article about the dream cruise that had 14 photos of the J6.
Did you mean to say J6? The article is very misleading by talking about the scrambler concept while showing the J6 concept in a majority of the photos.
I have hope that FCA will put the J6 into production. I remember when Chrysler introduced the 4 door wrangler to the public as a concept vehicle. At that time many folks said it would never make it to production for all sorts of rational and irrational reasons. The 2007 2 door wrangler JK was...
I agree, the Wrangler is an iconic design that represents the Jeep brand. It is what non jeep people understand to be a jeep. Many people have no idea what an fj is and some even mistake the original fj's for jeeps. The FJ was an unoriginal copy of the jeep that did not define Toyota as a...
I voted for the J6 but would buy an extended cab JT before the 4 door JT if the regular cab 6 foot bed was not offered. For me, the 4 door with 5 foot bed is not a practical off-road vehicle because it is to long to turn around on the tight and twisty two track trails that I enjoy exploring...
FCA should have led the introduction of the Gladiator with the J6 simply because it appears to be more in line with the original intent of the Willy's jeep as well as the Jeep Wrangler. A small, nimble, tough, versatile and simple off road vehicle.
I have been searching for a small off road...
