My 4th CEL after 3 prior repair attempts, including the computer update that was suppose to fix the problem. Time for my Lemon Law letter. I am disappointed because I love my Gladiator. I own 2 Wranglers, and 6 other Wranglers and Grand Cherokees over the years. Never had problems like this.
I am about 3 weeks since the computer update. No CEL since. But I still get the ESS needs service most mornings after backing out of driveway. Resets after restart. Any ideas?
Since my Gladiator received the computer update on July 14, 2020, I have not had any more CEL lights. I have had 3-4 ESS needs service lights, which reset after restart. All ESS needs service lights are right after first morning start of the day.
I do have a back up camera and parking assist. In my driveway, backing out does not trigger parking assist warnings. Camera does engage. Maybe the camera engaging is this issue . . .
Day #3, after software update, and I was backing out of driveway first thing this AM, and my ESS Needs Service Light and Error Message came on. Reset after restart. No CEL light . . . yet. This sucks!
My repair invoice states that a PCM update was performed. Under heading "Parts," it states "Engine Light found code P0300 Multi Engine Misfire checked vehicle found update for this code. Flashing from current part number 68433756AI to targeted part number 6843375AK." Regarding ESS not working...
I just picked up my Gladiator. Made it home with no CEL or ESS error messages.. Repair invoice stated the update was to Part 68433756AK from Part 68433756AI. My fingers are crossed that the problem is fixed because I love my Rubicon.
i just hung up from my dealer service manager. She reported that software update For this problem is now available and was installed. Gladiator will be test driven tomorrow to verify the fix. I will update this thread
once I hear back tommorrow.
Dtrees,
How did you initiate FCA buyback? Did Jeepcares offer? Did you assert a Lemon Law claim? My selling dealer suggested they might trade my vehicle, but I have a lease and am not sure that will work because I certainly do not want to pay more $$ for a problem I did not cause.
Blinking CEL light this morning backing out of my driveway first thing in the morning, with engine shake. Third visit to Dealer this morning with the same issues of ESS needs service and CEL light. I have not owned the vehicle for 2 months yet. Mileage is 1,831.
My gladiator has 1,100 miles. To visits to dealer with ESS on cold start and check engine light. Both times, code reader reported multiple engine misfire code P0300. Called Jeep Cares. They spoke to service advisor yesterday. Today, service advisor that Jeep is working on a software update...
