Bill, Shadowspapa: Stangers to each other, we agree more than we don't.
But, It is not about me.
I don't think that I ever said that your way was wrong. I am just trying to save the OP and anyone else money. Just replace the seal.
I don't fix what isn't broken, if I can help it. That...
Bill,
What did he do to the front end? I don't see it in the pictures.
The 'dummy' comment is not relevant. Not fixing what isn't broke is key.
Be well. Jeep on.

Bill.
The dude wants to simply stop a leak. That's all. As far as we know....
Stop the bleeding and send him home. If the cause is more severe, deal with that later.
Be well Jeep on.
Eric
Shadows, you are getting catty. LOL
Try the seal only. Don't F with the crush sleeve. The seal is a 1 hour job. The crush sleeve is a divorce potential. Huge difference.
Could be the pinion bearings are toast. OP just wants to stop a leak,,, I think. One seal is cheap, and it may fix it. The price gets expensive real fast after that if the leak comes back.
Ah, so they went crush sleeve on 44s. I just googled it. Thank you @ShadowsPapa
In my experience, You can't set full 100 percent pinion bearing preload without a full diff rebuild includind ring access.
Pinion seal replace has always been a "wing it" torque, especially with a crush sleeve...
Sorry, I might have missed a beat. Crush sleeve on Dana 44? Do the new 44s have crush sleeves? I haven't done one since my TJ days. I don't remember crush sleeves on 44s. 30's yes, not 44s.
Maybe I am losing it.
I would pop out the seal and replace. To heck with crush sleeve and breaker...
Sorry, but I am easily confused.
If you are running huge tires and the mods that come with that... Wy would one be concerned will drilling a few more holes?
I would do this:
Attempt at your own prerogative.
See if it is oil or transmission / transfer case fluid, brake fluid or anti-freeze, or gasoline, etc. by using the texture and smell method. Mark the box of what fluid it is and go forward. But If you can't tell...
Then De-grease the mess...
Love it! A "hold my beer and watch this" moment. You have either bigger balls or a smaller brain than I do. I hope it's insured for offroad foolishness!
Nice drone pics. Nice Jeep. Kudos.
Better you than me. Keep them coming. LOL.
Be well. Jeep Safe.
Eric
I flip my AUX switches, which occupy that space.
If I was still young and dumb: Condoms or cigarettes. If I was driving my mom somewhere, a small Bible.
Since I am old and dumber and don't care about condoms, I pay extra for switches when I buy a truck because I can.
That sucks. I have the AUX switches, optioned in as new, but for those that don't, that is bad news.
I would have guessed that it was part of a standardized main harness. And just the actual switches weren't there.
100 percent ^^^^
If you are doing lifts without the manufacturer recommended shocks. Frankenstein style. You need to know what you are doing, or take lots of measurements. These things take time, to be done right. But there are options.... Or you can get the specs on the lift kits...
In my personal opinion: Get the gun right.... Then work on the sights...
I run Sig 226 and XTen, S&W M&P 9 and 10, Glock Everything, Browning High Power in 9. And Colt or Sig for 1911. (I don't do race guns in the 1911 level, so there is better 1911's out there. I am talking non racer...
