I like the add for a bed cover as an option and floor mats, also a must have.
Definitely interesting on some of the opinions about what one shouldnt do, but really there’s no right or wrong.
I guess I should have clarified, I’ve had other jeeps. Interested in things...
I think a 1.5 inch or so level/lift could make sense depending on the droop that may or may not show up with a winch install. A little more room could help assure the suspension can cycle.
but i am not dead set on it. Agree with most here i dont want to mess with the stock set up too much. I am...
Looking for your list for the first five or best bang for buck mods on the mojave. Here’s mine so far:
- tires, 35’s or equivalent
- step bars
- winch and bumper
- level kit (possibly rockjock)
- light bar or bed solution
what is your list?
SilverTruck had fuel Kicker 5’s in gunmetal, black faux beadlock.
Fuel Kicker 5
here’s another shot of those on the silvertruck wrapped in 37x12.50 toyos
The pro4x was a cool truck but it really disappointed me on the highway. Choppy ride, slower than you’d think (not that trucks should be fast). Also the aftermarket was really thin and everything was on indefinite backorder. Then, the shifter knob fell off in my hand running errands at a big box...
After living with a toddler and a jeep where the door sills were 32 inches off the ground, I knew better family accessibility would be important. So the next mod after the tires had to be step bars.
I wanted to keep the look simple and cost effective so the natural choice for me was to go with...
So I had the jeep about four days before changing tires. Nothing wrong with the factory falken MT’s but they felt a little small.
Supply chain being what it is, couldn’t locate 35x12.50’s not on backorder. So, we decided to try some 315/70/17’s. Went back to the Toyo Open Country MT, did great...
So long story short, we traded the Silvertruck (my silver JTR) for a red TRX. The TRX was awesome, but after a few months of ownership we began to notice the TRX was kind of hard to live with. The thing was just huge by every measure and it got maybe 10 mpg.
So with the crazy used car market we...
thank you for posting this, I have been looking at this extensively too. Couple in the weeds questions:
- does the bar have ports to run lighting wite internally? If not then what was your solution?
- how hard are the cross bars to remove and are they solid when installed?
- the shots you posted...
you may have to fabricate the mounts. Here’s a couple for a raptor, gives the general idea. Lots of discussion on this in trx/raptor land. The wrong design can shake apart your bed if doing high speed running...
These chase style racks are clean if you are ok drilling holes. Look also for jack mounts, have seen racks like this online with an off road jack mount/air tank mount as well
Your 35 will fit fine underneath but access and departure angle concerns are legit. I’ve got my 315/70/17 mounted in stock location but probably wouldnt if i were banging rocks a lot.
Check out DV8 Offroad. They have two designs...
to the point someone made about driveshafts, that is critically important if you want to wheel it, if the upper cv lets go it can destroy your transfer case. Just a head’s up it wouldnt take much to hurt the transfer case housing.
The rig is looking tough! Spacers will be fine as long as shocks are long enough. Check drag link too. You’ll be pushing six inches total lift, may make sense to look at getting a top mount drag link.
clayton 3.5” overland. You’ll need your choice of shocks and front driveshaft. Search for my old build thread called slivertruck build notes, I think its in my sig too. @Clayton Off Road is everything you need.
