Good on you!
Hopefully this Friday I'll be one of the first with the 2.5" diesel specific Clayton front springs on my rig, so we can give folks some feedback on both.
Seems Clayton is coming to the front with solutions much faster than FCA is.
Adding to the above, it looks like Clayton Off Road is planning on an updated front spring that roughly maintains the factory profile (e.g. not lifting much) but provides a higher spring rate At least one forum member is demoing a prototype of this now.
I gotta stay, Clayton Off Road is paying...
Good question. The Method 705s have (Edit) +25 offset, as I'm trying to keep the poke down, keep mud off my sides (I live on a gravel road), so that might be a problem. I think the BFGs are a little smaller than the Coopers if I recall when I was looking them up, so that might help me.
What...
Good on ya.
I'm going to see if I can get the diesel springs in. I think you went 3.5" gas front springs, and 2.5" rears, where I'm going 2.5" all around. I might need the extra stiffness in the front to keep me off the soon-to-be-installed air bumps.
I wont have time to revalve the fox...
So ... i've been conversing with them on timing of the springs for a couple of months. They should get them from their supplier later this week (4/6 +/- shipping delays). I've been watching the calendar because of my 4/20 Moab trip! This is cutting it real close for me.
@CrazyCooter ...
Stock height, or as part of your 2.5" lift? I have a Clayton 2.5 gas lift at my shop ready to be installed. Would like to have gotten your 2.5" diesel springs, but Adam said they'd not be ready to ship until later this month. I have a trip to Moab on 4/22 that I need this installed by.
Spacer lifts don't typically fix the problem, because in addition to adding spacers on the top, they add spacers onto the axel strike plate as well, so it doesn't really add to travel, just changes the surface that comes in contact with the lip.
Adding a true lift... e.g. Mopar or other...
Your info is really helpful as I'm following closely in your footsteps... have a Clayton Gas JT 2.5" overland lift and will have Fox 2.5's for 2-3" lift waiting for me for install in a couple weeks... just in time for a late April Moab trip. Will not have time to re-tune the shocks before, but...
Thanks for your insights re: they are a wash re: their build comparison.
I agree also that each built to a price point, however it seems that Fox & Falcon have deviated when it comes to where they add adjustability Falcon in the 3.x series... which this video compares with the Fox 2.0 remote...
Clayton Gas JT's are #188 for front, I think the rears are the same
Their diesel JT fronts available very soon are somewhere around #225.
And they are working on an HD rear JT spring.
Ditto this. I live in Montana and have a fair amount of gravel slung at my windsheild. That being said, seems every time I cross the state line to AZ my windshield cracks :-(.
I've had to replace a couple standard windshields on my JK. and on my gladiator, the factory standard windshield...
Anyone try this...?
https://dv8offroad.com/collections/jeep-jt-hoods/products/dv8-heat-hood-jeep-jl-hdmjl-01
Site says compatible with JT.
Says not compatible with Mojave or 392 models, but doesn't specifically exclude ecodiesel.
Would like to see someone in a hot, hilly climate (anyone in AZ...
I won't doubt your comments relative to the base terraflex stuff (springs, shocks, control arms with johnny joints, etc.).
But Falcons might be a different story. Here's a vid on a tear-down comparison of Fox 2.0 remote reservoir adjustable, and Falcon 3.3 adjustables at pretty much the same...
Just a quick look at their website, looks similar to the Falcon 3.5 aDAPT, which are dynamic/active sensor based at under $3k.... but infinite backlog. It would be interesting to see how they compare.
There are some youtube videos out there that demonstrate how the 3.5 aDAPTs work, as well...
Good points.
I know I need to address the front end. I've got a clayton 2.5" lift going on in about a month, and air bumps in front. Just wish I could get shocks... I want to either get Falcon 3.3's or Fox 2.5 adjustables, but they are infinitely backordered. Going to have to go with shock...
Yes, I'm not thinking of going Sumos on the fronts to maximize travel, and plan on air bumps there. Sumos are advertised to retain 85% of the travel, and they are in essence dual rate springs, so I'm trying them out on the back. I put the 1400lb ones on the rear, and they improved the floaty...
This is a very valid point. EVERY manufacturer and supplier is experiencing supply chain issues right now. FCA would be no exception here.
So... in addition to needing to put faith into FCA to do a stand-up job on engineering a solution, you also need to have faith in them getting the parts...
I've not seen posted what the stock diesel spring rates are. Clayton states their Gas JT spring rates are 188, and that goes for both 2.5" and 3.5" lifts, and I assume their 4.5 as well. Clayton customer service told me he thinks the upcoming diesel front spring rates are about 215, again...
