After a good month of research and advice from a buddy that is by far the most experienced Jeeper I have known (I have been Jeeping for 20+ years), I went with a Clayton 3.5" Overland Plus kit with Fox 2.0s over the others I was researching (ReadyLift, Terraflex and MC). He liked MC too, but...
I went though this exact scenario with almost the same wheels and tires as you have.
I used the Skyjacker 2.5" under spring spacer with shock relocation brackets for the front level and it worked great...until I actually used the Jeep for off-roading. The front bottomed out pretty bad at any...
After extensive research and talking to my Jeep club folks, I am not going to go with the SJ kit. I suppose I was trying to cut some cost but then you get what you pay for many times.
At any rate, probably going with the ReadyLift 3.5" with Falcons.
Yes and no. If you wheel, 35's do not fit unless you change our your fender flairs (or maybe rubi flairs) or add extended bump stops. If you don't wheel, then you will probably be fine 95% of the time.
In this pic, my stock bump stops are just barely making contact but the tire is firmly in...
Inmates,
I am a long time Jeeper going back to CJ's, TJ's, XJ's, ZJ's, and JK's and have had many modified Jeeps, so this is coming from a place of experience. In my experience, Skyjacker has been junk, and I made the mistake a decade ago running a full 2.5" kit on a JKU...it rode terrible. I...
I now have 35's and the stock 3.73 gears and 8th gear is useless. In 7th gear, at 80mph, I am at 2600 rpm. This seems to be about the perfect RPM for that speed and got about 16mpg. The Jeep would hold 80mph in wind and only drop 1-2 mph up hills. Any less RPM and it probably would not have...
I went wheeling last weekend with the new 35" BFG KO2's with a 2.5" front level but no rear lift. If you value your rear fenders, they will not fit with the stock bump stops. I had to back out as the rear tires were wedged against the stock flairs. It is a wonder they didn't break.
I'll be...
I appreciate your input on this. I currently have 3.73s with the stock 31"-32" mud tires and it isn't enough gear. I have to force the transmission to stay in 8th manually at highway speeds if there is any wind or any incline at all. That lead me to believe 4:10s or lower would be about right...
I spent a week wheeling in the Colorado mountains and did end up smacking the skid plate on a rock. After that, when I hit a harsh bump, I got a metal on metal clunk noise. After spending time crawling around trying to diagnose it, I cannot seem to locate the source. I have to assume it is...
If you have the factory "limited slip" then that is most likely the culprit. They are junk and come apart fairly quickly. I haven't had them last 30k miles in my previous two Wranglers without leaving chunks like that in the diff.
On the JT, when I do gears, it is coming out and either an ARB...
I also installed the same skid last week and am happy with the fitment and quality. I got it in less than a week. I had the same basic skid on my JKU and it worked quite well.
Last weekend, I also installed the Quadratech steel/aluminum sliders and they went on easily as well. They seem to...
On two wheeling trips, I had to walk out to get help and once while just messing around in a field. As a result, I added a winch to my '13 JKU, then moved it to my '17 JKU. Of course, because I had a winch installed, I never needed it. If I didn't have one, I would have gotten stuck dozens...
I ordered the Quadratec aluminum engine/transmission for the new JT. I had it on my JK, it fit good, is relatively inexpensive, was light weight and did the job for a mild wheeler. It probably would not stand up to serious crawling, but for light to medium use, it works quite well.
I traded my '21 Power Wagon for a '22 Gladiator last Saturday so here is my take.
Power: This is obvious but the 392 Hemi was a beast with 4:10 gears. The 3.6L does the job OK I suppose but not even close. The PW loafed along at 90mph loaded and could light up the 35's even rolling.
Ride...
I took delivery of my 22 JT on Saturday and it was equipped with the Gorilla glass upgrade. I dove it about 25 miles and woke up Sunday to a crack all the way across the glass. Lol, so I didn't even get 24 hours or 50 miles before the "upgraded" glass cracked. There was a chip in it when I...
