Nearest tire shop(big O, Discount...).
Be prepared to be told its not fixable that close to the sidewall
Im pretty sure the warranty doesn't cover tires/road hazards
Best way to remove the moon dust is the aforementioned precleaner.
With OEM or better(Wix, purolator) filters
Oiled filters are crap. An oily dusty residue coats your IAT sensor and throttle blade and inner surfaces of the intake. Been there done that. Learned that the hard way
I have that problem in a few vehicles. Some piece of trim or another right where my knee rests. Long trips in my wifes honda had me with a small travel pillow for just this issue.
Lo and behold the JT with the prized manual Tcase and my knee hits the damn stick. I grabbed a foam can coozie and...
Ive noticed oil in both sides of the PCV. Intake side obviously, but also the fresh air side at the air cleaner end. Took off the air filter housing and saw a small pool of oil beneath the fitting that goes to the crankcase breather.

Saw this impressive unit at Overland Expo.
But, until i find myself on another continent, I like a more subtle, minimalist approach. Not only from a cost standpoint, but weight, fuel...
The guy thats been wrenching at the dealer for 40 years quit years ago.
Keep in mind that the smells on the oil cap are most likely from the hot fumes that are flowing out of the PVC system when the engine is shut off. Engine flatulence is some yucky stuff.
I really cant complain too much about the console in my JT.
Compared to my CJ/YJ consoles of yesteryear Jeep has put effort into making their consoles functional.
But....
Can we move the parking brake back to the footwell?
That would open up a lot of flat real estate to park my food...
Was a tossup between painting the top white or going with my favorite "nutmeg" on white scheme ive had on my jeeps since my '87 YJ.
Now I need to find someone willing to trade painted fenders for my black ones
