0% safety cushion just in case of unforseen circumstances. Lots of people tow at or over recommended weight with no consequences but do you want to be the one that does have consequences? Before someone jumps on me I have towed an Rpod cross country now for four years behind a '17 Rubicon and...
I used to be a Project engineer for the NY DOT and claims like yours are common. You file a complaint with the DOT in your state. They'll ask for an estimate and then forward it to the contractor's insurance co. Might take awhile but the DOT usually sides with the traveling public.
In the overall scheme of things it's just the color of your car. I was set on one color and then when ordering the dealer's son said " take a look at the Gator". I did, got it, and turned out to be an excellent choice.
Got one of these on my last trip to to Ace is the place for $6.00. Nice light touch and cleans off the gauges great. Even extends to 3' so you can sit in the driver's seat and clean your dash (not while you're driving)....
Was walking into my local supermarket when a guy walks up behind me and says" Is that your green Jeep?". I turned around expecting something "Nice Jeep Man" but instead got "I just hit your tail gate". Any damage I said? Sorry, he says, just bumped that thing you have on the hitch. That thing...
Got a Yakima RTT two years ago from REI on sale for $750.00. Holds two adults comfortably and takes me 15 minutes on a slow day to setup. You can spend a lot more but not sure what you get for all that extra money.
We have a '20 Gladiator and an '18 Wrangler and use the Tekonsha Prodigy RF brake controller for both. The main controller mounts on the trailer and the handheld plugs into the 12V receptacle. You need just the one handheld to work the brake for both vehicles. There is no wiring in either car...
Have a Yakima two person RTT mounted on a Yakima HD rack. Works great for me. It really is nice to pull in and not have set up a ground tent, particularly in the rain. The RTT sets up in like ten minutes and you're done. No pictures yet as it's in the garage waiting patiently. It takes no more...
This is what my black grille looks like from the dealer. I asked them to put it on when I picked up my new Gladiator and this is what I got. They also installed it for cost, no labor charge. Plus I got to keep the original grille in case I might want to change it back someday. Not a bad deal...
I like unpainted fenders because if I damage them I can just go buy a new pair and replace them myself. A lot cheaper than replacing a painted fender. My Gator with unpainted fenders...
Went with the Yakima HD rack. This is the intermediate size which has adjustments to raise or lower the rack height. Solid rack, little pricey, worth the money. It carries a RTT in season, a fly rod holder, and a Road Shower.
