This highlights the current administrations concern with standards being set too high and possibly unrealistic and asks for revised goals and recommendations. It also...
Cafe (Corperate Average Fuel Economy) standards wont go away, but the requirement for average passenger car mpg, which is 50mpg by 2031, will probably see a reduction, but how much is not clear. What is not clear is how it actually impacts light trucks as there had been a loop hole in the past...
I blew my 4.56 in Baja from not lifting in the whoops (was too excited to pass raptors), and with a manual trans the shocks and force are more impactful vs auto since the torque converter can slip. Now, I also had 100k miles on the rear, plus lots of testing and jumping...but, that last whoop in...
I think this is not ideal advice. There are no TSBs for "shimmy" for the JT, and almost any issue I helped others on was a result of things not properly torqued, aligned, and geometrically correct. The OP acknowledged being new to this so there's an opportunity to share information on how to...
For those not familiar with my build, I have 18in of rear wheel travel and 12 in the front (soon to be 12.5, but only because the front trac bar puts it into suspension bind before I reach max droop.
I have lots of videos of small/meduim whoops at 60 mph, as well as large jumps (Barstow, Giant...
The photo the OP shared of the extra stablizer followed by an image of one of the front coil springs. That coil spring looks like it is bowing a bit which tells me your trac bar is not at the correct adjusted length.
I have seen this happen where the trac bars are adjusted too long or short...
check torque on lugs, check torque on control arms, track bar, and sway bar links. Not just "feels tight" but to spec. a non-properly torqued bolt can result in new/weird vibrations
The Ram E-torque has an instant 90 ft. lbs. as soon as you puch it which feels awesome. Ive driven one myslef and really enjoyed that instant torque. And this is what I foresee as going in the JT. I'm hopeful it's not the 2.0 turbo sytem, but then again, I don't think the 2.0 turbo/hybrid has...
Someone mande a nice compilation of vehicles that failed to make the jump:
Not sure the story of the other vehicles, but it was nice hearing Jim take the ownership of driver error.
It's not a hard jump, he stated in the video he should have been at 45 mph, but he and his wife somehow missed this info during the drivers meeting. He had plenty of room ro accelerate to 45+ mph, but he did not. He's raced a few othr classes so hes not a rookie here either. Just unfortunate...
thanks for the numbers, I was going based on rough memory when I put together a market study for my SBA 7 loan. I do agree STLA really missed out on a huge opportunity with the JT. Any time I'm on a trail and see a Taco they always chat about the limitations of their rig, and high performance...
when the JT first came out it was doing awesme in sales, around 75k vehicles a year. Lately its been around 50-55k vehicles a year. A lot of that is due to higher interest and we are now finally seeing the excessive markups on them coming down too. I'm hopeful because i think the JT is a hell of...
Jim, the driver of the truck posted a discussion he shared on Instagram stating that was supposed to be a 45mph jump, but he thought it was a tabletop and therefore was not on the gas. He could have been on the gas but wasn't. Not a power issue of the engine
exactly why i threw on the magnuson supercharger. The reality is less than 10% of total sales result in people supercharging their vehicles so there's no incentive. The amount of mall crawlers I see vs people actually using their vehicle is staggering, and thats here in socal. Unfortunately...
Found the data log from the dyno run I did, but it wont let me upload it so here's a snapshot.
I also had a loose grounding wire which was causing intermitent power surges that I was trying to diagnose (grounding wires of the cam sensors at the back of the engine) this is a snip of that log...
